Hey guys, just wanted to share my build with you all, see what you think..

Its an 04 Camry SE, 5-speed, 2az-fe, japan built---as popular as the Camry is, there were not many of these built..

bought it brand new in December 2003, and slowly been modding it.. its got 170k miles now, still on the OEM clutch :crazy: and she gets beaten DAILY haha..

I figured this would be a better place to get info about the motor/clutch/etc than the lame Toyota site---they all have auto's and never mod them beyond suspension/wheels..

I want a built motor, PTE6262, AEM EMS, DW1000's, and some corn fuel:shock:



My question is sorta vague... who builds the most reliable motors around the DC/MD/VA area? I am very close to PTuning. my plan was to just get an assembled bottom end, then an assembled head and install it myself..

Also, best all around street clutch? I was looking at either the Clutchmasters stage 2 or ACT street..


Any info is greatly appreciated!!

I found out something pretty cool... My gears are quite a bit longer than the Tc... My 2nd, at 6200rpm, is at 62mph, and 3rd is done at just over 90(on a closed road of course :silly:)

i guess that means it'll be a highway killer w/ 450whp!!!

and the E85 station is right next to my house.. i paid $3.98 for 87 while it was $3.75 for the corn..

Deffinetly going to need more them a CM stage 2!!! You'll need at least a fx400 but It all depends on what kind if power your trying to get! But with a built motor and a 6262 you should be well over 400 and you might want to go with a fx500

is that safe for the stock trans? seems like a pretty badass clutch, but the last thing i want is to break a gear..

how strong is the Tc trans? I thought PTuning's race car just had a sick clutch but stock trans..?

I actually drive the car 100+ miles a day right now, but when it gets built, it wont be a DD anymore but i still want it to be reliable..

yea they can keep their number and their wrx's with 17x7's calling themselves "wrong fitment".... my car sits ~2 to the oil pan. thats low enough for me and my 100 mile daily commute.

as far as i know, the only difference is the intercooler piping. everything else should bolt right up, i hope!

a guy in FL made 347whp with his 02 camry, swapped a stock 08 tc motor in it, with a custom dezod kit i think.. but he's got an auto..

I just emailed Paul@ dezod about the Quaife LSD... I'll be ordering mine next week :icon_twisted:

The setup you speak of will be good into the 450-500whp range on E85, than youll run out of fuel on 1000cc inj, even with retarded high base fuel pressure. I know because your proposed setup is almost identical to mine.

I have built bottom end (9:1 cr Wiseco Pistons, BC Rods)
BC Valvesprings/Retainers
Precision 6262
DW 1000cc inj
DW301 fuel pump
and a custom fuel return setup.
Also youll prob want a twin disc clutch :)

Im using the EMan Ultimate and running 7500rpm rev limit on 20 ish psi currently.

With a bigger fuel setup, you should have no problems getting into the 500-600whp range with this setup, the motor, turbo, and everything else should be good for it. Im hopefully getting 1600cc inj soon :)

what brand 1600's? I plan on doing AEM standalone, so bigger won't hurt! how do you like the emanage? i've heard good and bad.. i know Injector Dynamics should be able to make a set-- they have subaru injectors - 2000cc..

and with the 6262, when do you see full boost? I was just thinking a 30r .82 would be legit, but would run out of steam around 500whp--i think..?


what clutch would you recommend? I'm ordering the Quaife next week, then a clutch in a few weeks.. I want something streetable, preferably as stock feeling as possible..

Wicked yota. Take it to Ptuning and get it done right the first time :)

As for a clutch, Id recommend the ClutchMasters FX600.
Im currently running Deatchwerks 1000cc injectors, and plan on getting them to work me up some 1600cc inj. (DW is located in OKC, so they are local to me and love helping me out with crazy ideas haha)
As for the 6262, I make full boost slightly over 4k - with a 7500 rpm redline I have a solid 3200-3500 rpm power band.
I dont have much experience with the 30r, but if youre going that route, I think youd wanna look more at the 35r.
Oh an after resolving a couple minor issues (Mostly my fault) the emanage ultimate is great and really does damn near anything an ems can do. Theres even a rumor on the street that soon the EMU will be able to do a set timing map so you can completely remove the stock ecu from the timing equation.
