Remember the concept that was to be the Versa?
http://paultan.org/wp-content/thumb-nissan_versa_2.jpg and the production model? http://www.namedevelopment.com/blog/...an%20Versa.jpg Yeah.... |
Too drastic of a look. Americans don't go for those sharp edges. Look at how GM is going back to a more retro look with the Corvette, Charger, Camaro, Challenger...............this won't ever look like this and may look like a Cobalt with more lines rather than curves................I have no hope in this car in the U.S. although it may be an amazing car.........I love the style.

Good call. The retro look is ok, but if it doesn't come with a retro motor (305/350/442/502...the list goes on), it's not worth it IMO. |

Oldsmobile made the 442 yes. I was speaking of the car in that sense, and engines in the rest. 502s were designed for race applications off of 350 blocks from GM. The Olds 442 came with a 350, sorry for the confusion. And if we really want to go with "retro" motors, we can just say that the 32-40 engines out of Fords and Chevys are the way to go. 32 T-bucket Ford would be a nice thing to see with a 351 W in it. Gotta go big if you're going to go at all.
|
And yes, the 351 W is a newer motor, I know that. Starting with the Clevland...then the Modified and then the Windsor.
|
Although the 426 Hemi would be a monster on the road.

...just to threadjack this a little more, I'll see your Cuda and raise you the original ZL1 Vette... aluminum block, aluminum-headed 427!
http://www.autofacts.ca/classics/FAPC/ZL1Corvette.htm See you later, Cuda. |
Dam, that things got rollbars in it, lol. O well, the production model prob wont be anything like that. And besides, wouldnt that car sorta cut into cavalier/cobalt sales?

http://www.autofacts.ca/classics/FAPC/ZL1Corvette.htm See you later, Cuda. Sweet sweet. My all time favorite car, most of all out of all the cars ever would be: 1969 Stingray Vette.......last year with factory side pipes..........but I would have a 383 stroker motor and cams.............very nice rumble and engine rock........sounds sexy! |
Something to keep in mind, domestic production cars get watered down far more than imports.
|
Now a days they do, but lets go back 35 years and see if we can say that. Even 40 years to the mid to early 60s. No emission controls and V8 produce POWER. Gas gussling V8s pushing close to and more than 400 hp from the factory. I'll take me one of those "watered down" engines from those eras then. :P
|
400hp and still 15sec 1/4 miles. i saw a road test of a Honda Odyssey vs a Plymouth Superbird...needless to say the minivan out preformed the Superbird in nearly every measurable category. Nice to look at, nice to listen to. thats about it.
