Next Scion, A Daihatsu???
I Do not know if this true, but I am just passing this along. I have a fried that lives in Hong Kong, and he read a magazine that talked about the scion. He told me that he saw Pictures of the car, said by the magazine to be the next scion coming out. And he told me it looked identical to the Daihatsu Move Custom that they sell in hong Kong, not sure if they sell it in Japan. So this might be the next scion, but not sure.
The Magazine he told me was a Hong Kong car Magazine called "Car Plus" I saw the specs, It is much smaller than an Xb it is actually really tiny from the outside (a la mini cooper) even smaller in some dimensions , is boxy still though. I dunno where this fits in the line up though. do you even think it is allowed in the U.S.?? Is small!! and the engine as well this is definetely a k car, but my friend told me they are tuner cars in Hong Kong, and are pretty roomy inside. COULD this be Scion xD?????? I heard something about Dihatsu, or however you spell it, but I don't know if it was about this.
I like it, really I do. I think that this could be the next generation xB. Just my $0.02. |
Does toyota have an agreement with Dihatsu? Have they ever sold a korean car with their badge on it before? I hope not, but anything goes now-a-days.
|
|
Well, I do not think it would be the next Xb, it is much smaller than a XB, it like the Xb's size compared to the Element which is a big difference.
I think Toyota owns daihatsu, not sure thoug, i dun think they are korean cars, but not sure as well. What engines do you think would fit in this?? it has a .650 displacement turbo which makes around 70-75 HP, So i'm guessing a 1.3 turbo for the U.S.??? (if it even comes here) even myself showing you the news doubt that this car would make it here |
I dont think is the toyota passo, it might become a scion though, but he e-mailed me the first picture that I posted, the rest i searched through google
|
just did a search on google and it turns out daihatsu is owned by toyota. :D
|
It looks good from the side and the back but all those lights on the lower part of the bumper make it look stupid from the front. Daihatsu makes much better looking cars. And they are a Japanese car company, not Korean.
I like the YRV. Would make a much better Scion. You can even get it turbocharged and with a panorama roof similar to the tC. http://www.daihatsu.co.jp/showroom/l...rv_img_001.jpg http://www.daihatsu.co.jp/showroom/l...mg_grd_013.jpg http://www.daihatsu.co.jp/showroom/l...mg_tx_002p.jpg where have I seen those vents before? and apparently, it comes LHD somewhere, so they wouldn't have to rengineer it from RHD to sell it here. http://www.daihatsu.com/catalogue/yr.../img/panel.jpg |
The YRV has some old school clock. :D I was thinking of the Diahatsu as well. Is that vinyl I see on the dash :?: Toyota may stick with the 1.5L for the US Market.
How about the Daihatsu Sirion? A 4-Door Mini comes in non-1NZFE K3-VE (Dynamic Variable Valve Timing) 1.0L to 1.3L engine. http://www.daihatsu.com/catalogue/ |
Forget the Move or the YRV.... if Toyota is going to bring a Daihatsu over, please please please God let it be the Daihatsu Max:
http://homepage2.nifty.com/ryu-neo/img050.jpg http://homepage2.nifty.com/ryu-neo/img051.jpg I want this car even more than I want the Will Cypha... how can anyone resist that wee-bulldog look? Lots more photos of the Max here: http://homepage2.nifty.com/ryu-neo/page003.html http://homepage2.nifty.com/ryu-neo/page014.html http://sky.zero.ad.jp/~zah05328/onmax/salon.html |
It looks ok, but not nearly as good without the mods on that one you posted.

The pic you posted shows the new bumper they introduced on the Max this year- it looks a lot blander than the previous bumper with the oval fog lights.
The white car I posted actually has all the factory OEM bumpers and body kit . The only aftermarket aero is the rear roof spoiler. |

The Toyota Passo and Daihatsu Boon are the same car... Don't know what kind of stake Toyota has in Daihatsu, but obviously there is something going on. Maybe we'd get one of those. :?
|
That one on bags with the chrome rims and bodykit is P.I.M.P.. and it's about the same size as a mini-cooper?? I'd definitely buy one of these.

Echo similarities?
It kind of reminds me of a Toyota Echo. The fact that the front kind of dips creates the feeling that you're going down a roller coaster.....not cool. At least that's the way I felt when I test drove the Toyota Echo, I personally didn't like it.

Toyota owns Diahatsu, Daihatsu is Japanese not Korean.
|
Looks ugly just being stock!!
|
Where is the option to vote *NO* ?
I don't see what the appeal is. A smaller xB (so you lose the useful space) designed/made by Daihatsu (might as well be Hyundai, because it's crap) |
the latte version of the move looks alot cooler.
