should I get a skyline??
1) Yes, yes you should and take lots of pics
2)Well getting it here wouldnt be hard, but making it road legal would.
Read the FAQs at http://www.motorex.net/skyline.html
They're the only authorized importer and converter of Skylines for the US

Without it you could only use it on the track or on your own driveway.
umm its a matter of money.. if you have the money then it shouldnt matter, but why dont you just get a US GTR within the year when they release the new body here in the states.. that would probably be easier. On top of that I could think of plenty of cars that would be better buys for that kind of money your talking about.
Look into the Lotus Exige, now thats a mean little car and hard not to love.
Its got a supercharged toyota celica engine, revs to something like 9K, weighs only 2000lbs, and with the semi-slicks and huge brakes it can tear your face off coming, going, or just turning a corner.
And I really doubt you'll ever see another one on the road next to ya.

Hmm, not that I'm suggesting this be done... But depending on the registration/emissions in one's state/county of residence...
One *could* pick up a not-road-legal skyline off eBay for 20-$30K and attempt to register it for limited road use as a "kit-car" or "exotic"
Later, at the DMV: "I swear, its just a totaled 240sx with a body kit and motor swap!"

It depends on which model u get. If u get the older GTR32 model or regualr skyline u'll have no problem. I've looked into importing a car before and there is alot of paperwork n BS that u have to go through to get on here. The newer GTR33 n GTR34 models unless u pay alot of money for the conversion or someone already had one in the US/Canada then its not worth it. $95k to get one here, u might as well buy a brand new Viper or a slightly used Ferrari. What I've found is that imported cars that are 25years n older fall into our standards n that they don't require any emissions testing. Also they don't require to meet any of the safety standards that we have. By that I mean like special airbags or stuff like that. As long as they have all the turn signals, a horn, all working lights, and the thing isn't being held together by duct tape its good. So anything 25 years n older u'll have no problem getting into the country. Its everything newer that the rules get hazy and are open to different interpretation.

I know that here in NY we have emissions testing through the obd2 port on 1996 n newer cars. Anything older still uses the sniffer, so that should make it easier to pass. Just slap on a cat and program the car to run lean and u can make it pass with flying colors. I believe it wasn't untill 1993 that airbags were required so models up untill that will make it easier to bring here. In saying that I think the 2 for sale on ebay that I put links to above would be easy to bring here and drive everyday. You'll probably just need a cat and ur set. Hardest part would be driving it over the boarder and gettin a regie.
I haven't been able to find anything that is clear cut, but it looks like there are ways around all the customs laws n what not. Just have to pick the right car that will be the easiest to get over here. Might I add it also helps to know someone who works in one of the ports.

This site also does importing. I've been looking at them for years. I personally think that it would be alot easier to import a right hand drive supra or an all-trac celica since these cars can be more easily registered here. Same for a jdm civic or s2k or something. Just register them as the U.S. version and then do the emissions conversion urself.

Hell you'll be in SK for 6 years, just buy a skyline and enjoy it while your there then sell it when ya come back. Think of the posibility of all the cool cars that will be out here in the states in 6 yrs from now. Even in those 6 yrs ya could get tired of the skyline and decide to buy something else interesting ya can't get here. my 2 cents
driving a skyline in s. korea will be pretty hard, there are 10inch high speedbumps and speeding cameras everywhere and not too many highways to have fun... but u can join some illegal drag racings where all the supra, gt-r, ferrari, and lambo's will meet.
