Default car set-up importance.. Blown_xa vs 460whp G35

for those of you who saw the video of me chasing down the turbo G35... check this out, it is proof in pudding that gobs of HP doesnt equal a fast car around a road coarse unless it is set up right: This was a video response to the time attack video I posted http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWL0gHxezqc

this is that same G35 (some of you have seen this) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rj8_VkBZByw

wtf? did that guy know he was on a road course? he was using his turn signals!

are you sure it was his set up or just terrible driving? or maybe that car just has really bad turbo lag so it isn't very responsive in the turns.

It looks like he used his signal when he let the xA pass. But that's about it.

he drove ok, but the day before his lines were not that great. Id say it was a combination of driving and car balance. He also complained of brake fade later. In the end he ended up posting a lap time within a half second of me, but in that particular session I definately annoyed him by being all up on him and passing him in my bubble. Seemed to be a nice guy. It's weird, some cars you think would be fast were not, and others I thought wouldnt be great ended up being ridiculously fast. The SRT-4 in my class was insane, It blew my mind that he was as fast as he was on Continental 280 treadwear tires. yea it had power, but the lap times he pulled were unreal

wait a minute, just a point of argument here, your caption says it is a practice session, so is it safe to say that maybe he isn't going all out and is just getting used to the course? or maybe someone else is driving who isn't used to the car or something?

it was a practice session, but also a qualifier. The way it was run, they used your practice times to determine if you were even eligable to compete because only the top 14 fastest cars over-all were allowed to run the time attack

car setup is paramount!!
there is a local subaru shop up this way (that shall remain nameless) that post 450-600hp stis all over the proven bragging rights forum on nasioc. yet the xb is yet to have a raw time slower then ANY of there cars at an autocross. and my sti , when stock, was faster around the jefferson circuit then one of their 560whp "monsters" on a day we went back to back for 4 sessions.

Its all about the driver and line. Who was driving that xA? Smooth inputs man! Once you got yourself within 4-5 car lengths he freaked out, got off the line, and blinkered you by.

Awesome vid! Nothing is better than when someone comes up to your car afterwords and says "Man! what did you do to that thing?"
