I would likely go for the Craftsman (have been looking at this jack lately even - but don't have a garage or anything to use it :( ). I have always had the best luck w/ their stuff.

CarbonXe 08-05-2008 07:13 PM

Craftsman all the way. I will NEVER buy harbor freight. Not after working for UPS and watching those trucks get demolished by ____ed off un-loaders who don't want to un-load a truck full of tools.

NurSpec 08-05-2008 07:30 PM

I am for the craftsmen too, but if you check out their site there are over 70 people who wrote horrible reviews...

I just read through a lot of the reviews and honestly I think the people are just dumb. There are a bunch of good reviews of people who say as long as you follow the manual (and bleed the jack before first use), you should be fine.

If it were me, I'd probably still get this one (but maybe with extended warranty  ).

Actually, the aluminum isn't that great. It's very easy to move around and lightweight, but I actually watched one just stop working lol. I'd go for just a standard Craftsman floor jack and some jack stands.

1/4 the price and I've seen those things last 10+ years.

Me and several people in our region have been using the $80 Harbor Freight for a couple of years with no problems. I don't mind telling you I'm a little shocked that it has lasted as long as it has.

Hat_Trick_Hokie 08-06-2008 11:25 PM

I voted Harbor Freight. Mine has done very well for me and have no problems with it whatsoever. And yes, I am changing out wheels all the time. Especially during track/autox season 8)

TeeCizzle 08-06-2008 11:33 PM

CostCo has a pretty good one for $160

mrexotica 08-07-2008 09:29 PM

i use a $40 Craftsman jack

i've had it for 7 years, it's small, is low enough to get under both lowered cars, and comes in a nice case.

i have better things to spend my money on than an aluminum jack

Ace83 08-07-2008 09:36 PM

griot's garage is nice, very low profile but price is ridiculous.. so
i would go for craftsman, and yeah extended warranty yo!
