Default Has Any One Tracked an xA? - Need Advice!!

I'm considering a track day at Streets of Willow in two weeks.
If anyone has tips on tracking the xA, please post up!
I've seen xAs in autocross and at the drag strip, but not on the track.

With it's short track width, and 5 doors, I must say- I'm slightly concerned about rolling it!

I'm planning on installing steel braided brake lines, new brake pads, and changing the brake fluid before tracking. I'm also looking to get a cheap CAI, and a CG Lock for the seat belt.

-Pete

PS: The only mods I have now are: Magnaflow muffler, JIC Magic suspension, and new Yoko ES-100 tires (yes, I have a new set of A048 race tires, but the're too soft for circuit racing - they're for autocross only)

No one rolled their xB last time--so I would think you are ok.

yea, i did the time attack at summit a few months ago. get a rear sway bar, the Progress technology one, it keeps the inside front tire from unloading outta corners. I would say that is the most important upgrade. U dont need the brake lines. And don't brake to the car's full capability cause u'll burn them up, i found out my first time as my center caps melted off my rims.

Here is what we did one night in Orlando. The xA has an axel back and intake. The xB has the same + a 300lb redneck

Facts: for all

The xA driver was a first timer, on an automatic, was told to keep it on drive (by the xB driver), was told not to put it in 1st gear for the launch, did not rev / brake the start and so on. Tough girl but she said she did not know much about what to do. I do not know but sounds like a cheap set up. Come on, boxes like that are slow, except for a few tricked out ones but still slow. The box driver had raced before, not much, but before. I wonder if he could do it again after we give the xA driver some pointers. I do not think so. If not I have a stock black xA waiting

You know better Joe...

I drove Road America in my xB. I had Tein S-techs and 18s at the time, One thing to lookout for is brake fade. Eventually, the smallish front brakes begin to lose feel. If you plan on turning your xA into a track car, I'd suggest a brake upgrade on the fronts.

I have autox-ed my xB with my 16s, Yokohama ES100s, Progress rear sway bar, and Tein S-techs. Much better! Ultimately, I'd suggest some good shocks/springs and a brake upgrade if you're serious.

I missed the original track day, but there are more coming up soon.

My xA suspension is definitely ready. I've installed JIC Magic Coil-overs & Shocks/Coils, Hotchkis front and rear sway bars, Energy Suspension full End Links with custom aluminum spacers, and a race alignment with camber bolts (went from -0.25 degrees to -1.75 degrees). I also got Volk TE37 wheels and Yoko A048 tires. The handling is so good, it's now difficult to test it on the street.

I'm not worried about rolling on the track. I'm worried about rolling if I go off the track!

One likely scenario is when two wheels go off into the dirt while cornering. The tires can dig in and cause a rollover. This happens more often at desert tracks like Big Willow where there is sand or soft dirt next to the pavement. Lower, wider cars obviously fare better than our xAs and xBs.

The last time I was at Streets of Willow, I rode along with a friend in his S2000. We went off the track in Turn 1 (right after the straight). We spun numerous times making a huge "dirt tornado" while we crested the hill and went down the other side. It was pretty wild. No serious damage to us or the car, and he was able to continue on (after a quick inspection).

I don't have pics of the other stuff with me, but I'll post later.
