So i know a good amount about cars and especially the tc but i want to learn how to race it better when doing autox and drags with friends. When i go FI i really want to know what im doing. I always love to learn as much as i can. So i was wondering what different kinds of shifting are there and how can they be beneficial? Ive heard of WOT shifting and flat foot shifting and double clutching but i really don't know the purpose of them? Ive been driving manual for about 2 years so i know what im doing i just want to learn more when it comes to racing.

Powershifting (WOT shifting), is very beneficial for when you go F/I. When you shift this way, the boost stays consistently at peak boost. It does not fall as it would if you normally shifted. However, this can cause tranny issues if you are not careful. That's why you purchase something like the WOTBox as it aids in powershifting, as well as gives you 2step launch control for those drag track visits.

Then you have Heel-Toe shifting when you are racing on the Road Course (can't really do it in Autox, to small of a course). But when you are downshifting to make a corner, while applying the brakes you would use your heel to blip the throttle as you down shift. This makes it easier to transition into the turn, keeping balance to the car as it will make it to where the engine will not jerk from the down shift (called Engine braking)
