Blown Air Bleed Port on Radiator - Fixable?
No applicable search hits for "air bleed port" or "radiator overheated"... if this question is answered, please point me to it.
My 2006 tC overheated... water pump went out, but the temperature gauge never rose above mid-point. What alerted me was steam coming out from under the hood.
Popped the hood to find the source of the steam was the driver-side air bleed port on the radiator... tiny hole jetting out steam like a mini-firehose. The weird thing was there was a cragged ½″ stalagmite-looking plastic thing sticking out of the port (the steam was coming out of the center of it). Some kind of safety plug? Designed to let off steam like that?
So the question is, what is this thing, and is it repairable, or am I looking at a whole new radiator?
Didn't think to take a picture when I was out there to check on it today, sorry
