Default check engine code P0340, P0340(pd)

so im throwing two code of P0340, P0340(pd) on my tc. I thought it was the cam position sensor nd I bought a new one replaced it and its still throwing the two codes. the car starts some times right away and some times it starts after 2 or 3 cranks. the car back fires when i shift 1st to 2nd nd sometimes to 3rd gear. Any ideas of what other things i can do?

Streched chain? Crank sensor? Any associated rattling from engine?

There is a little rattle sounding like from the top side of the head but not dramatic about it. Stretched chain never herd of. Nd if it was the crank sensor wouldn't it threw a different code instead of cam position sensor?

If your chain is streched you will usually hear rattling from the engine. Chains can strech over time or mist commonly due to lack of oil changes or low level. If its streched you will get cam timing codes because the sensors can't communicate in time. I don't know much about these particular engines but I've seen a crank sensor that was dying trigger cam codes.

Think you might need to take it to the dealer and have them diagnose it.

BUMP!!
so far i've been told i need to switch the timing chain on the motor (which i want to stay away from) due to the fact i took out the motor once i really dont want to do it again.
now ive been told maybe it could be the timing tensioner. bbuuttt i was doing some homework nd seen on other sites that you have to change both the timing tensioner nd the chain to eleminate the rattle noise thats on the side.

whats going on in the motor:
rattle noise by the pulleys
loss of power while driving
check engine code which is cam position sensor(i put a new one in nd code still there)
some times car starts right away and some times it takes 2 or 3 times before starting.

any other observations before i start tearing this motor apart??
