coolant smell
I ran my heater for the first time this morning on way to Walmart at 4 am and it worked fine but there was the smell of coolant. I checked the carpet to see if I had a leak, no moisture and no smell, but as soon a I turned the heater the smell returned.
On the plus side, I got the best gas so far on a tank of gas at 31 plus with an auto trans. I didn't run my aircon for the whole tank and that included climbing the baker grade back into Vegas. BillTurner

when I first had the xA and ran the heater it had a similar smell as well, but with time it went away...
as for the mileage congrats.. I remember my first tank I got just around 38mpg about a month or so back, first time I did mostly highway driving on a tank of gas instead of just putting around in the East Bay cities

i saw your mods, what exactly is the 'alarm from hell'? are u referring to the Scion security? i think that one is pretty good myself.....
a have used heat myself, but only with A/C on also......no coolant smell......
but u are right about the A/C and grades....i get similar mileage on highway with lots of hills running A/C as when i am driving around town.....
ah well, it is still 27mpg+ so not too bad.....

My alarm is my own install. I have 2 starter kills kills the horn honks along with the siren and the headlight flash. When I am not going to LA on my days off I am going to put strobe light under the dasn and in the rear. A bit of over kill yeah but I get my Jollies. Bill

It sounds like a manufacutre spoof. If it fades away with time, which it will, go on about your business. Keep an eye on all fluid levels. If you notice a probelm, run back kicking and screaming to the dealership.
