Default Energy Conserving Oil???

Hey, I noticed in the manual that the engine calls for 5w-30, not anything new to me or probably to anyone else.. But it specifically asks for API SL Energy Conserving. I've never heard of these requirements, and used to use whatever 5w-30 the oil change shop offered. Is it important to make sure that these requirements are met? Or maybe most 5w-30's already meet this requirement?

I noticed that to and when I went to Schucks every single oil from the $5.00 synths to the cheap off brands all had the Energy Conserving seal on back, so apparently you're gonna be safe at any oil changeing place as long as they aren't useing recycled oil.
