Depends on the size of the dent, where it is, and the condition.

If it's a small dent in the right conditions, something called paintless dent repair can be performed, which is basically just popping the dent out with special tools. You can buy a kit and do it yourself, but I think this typically costs less than $100 at a body shop.

Next step is a small amount of body filler (commonly called by the brand name of Bondo). Basically, the dent is filled in and sanded down smooth. Obviously this is going to require paint and some paint blending to make sure the paint matches the surrounding paint. Just because it's the same color paint, doesn't mean it's going to match due to different environmental conditions during the spray and different lots of paint. This will cost somewhere in the realm of $250-500, once again, depending on the size...

And the next step up from this is having a new door installed or a new door skin installed if it's dented badly. Three days after I got my car, someone hit and ran my drivers side door and left a dent straight down into the cross beam about 10"x10". There are a few options like I said above.

1. Fill in the dent with body filler, repaint the door and blend the paint into the surrounding panels. Probably around $800 and up. Not a good idea since it's a brand new car.

2. Install a new door skin, which is basically the outside part of the door, repaint it and blend the paint like above, this costs about $1200.

3. Install a new door shell. A brand new door shell, which is basically a skeleton. A new door shell costs $850, and the completed job with paint and blending will cost about $1600 (what I had done).

I know you said you have a dent and I'm not sure how big, but I figured I'd explain all phases of dent repair to serve for future reference as well...

There's another one out there, can't think of the name. Same thing, works great, only about $20 in stores.
