Default Low mileage salvage or high mileage clean?

I want to buy a 2006 xA but don't have quite enough $$ to get a clean title and low miles. So:

Should I buy an xA with a clean title and 150k miles ($4000) or a salvage with 40k ($5000) as long as it checks out with the mechanics/body experts? Clean title has the color I like more + rims + sound, but also a clutch with 120k on it. I guess you know which way I'm leaning...

To me mileage is not that important anymore. I would find out how it has been driven and maintained.

a Salvage title xA, even with low miles is not worth 5 grand period. (I'm an insurance total loss adjuster FYI)

If that salvage title xA was in running condition and passed state inspections etc, It would maybe be worth 3 grand.

I stay away from salvage titled cars

I found my TC for cheap. Higher miles, but clean title and clean all around. When I was looking, the majority of TC's were salvage. Very happy with my purchase
