I havent been able to find a definitive answer. I'm not sure what to clean my dash with. I don't want to use armoral because once I put that on I'm kinda stuck with it. What works good for cleaning that weird "rice paper" texture?

 

I tired armoral, and it really blows.

 

I just use a swiffer dust pad and water.

i used meguiar's tech wax.. the spray on stuff. works really well.

 

You wax your dash? Just kidding. I like 303 Aerospace Protectant because it doesn't leave a shiny finish and it protects against UV rays.

 

Buy a microfiber glove, or a 5-pack of microfiber cloths at Target or your local Auto Parts store.

You can use a wet towel if you don't want to leave your dash with any shine.

Otherwise, try Meguiar's Dash and Trim foam, if you just want it clean and not too glossy.

Meguiar's Gold Class if you want a 'detailed' glossy dash.

I wax my dash also--painted part--I used Gold Class, but Tech Wax is exellent too.

Don't use Armor-All. When you stop applying it, supposedly, your interior parts will start deteriorating in the sun. Meguiar's doesn't have the same problem. Try it, and if you don't like it, wipe it off with a wet rag, or just wait for it to wear out and evaporate.

 

i agree.......MICROFIBER!!!!! those cloths work awesomely.....just be sure to wash them as soon as you get them......then they're almost static-ish on the dash dirt/lint......

Yeah I've always heard that too. The thing is, I've used Armor-All on the interiors of every car I've owned for the last 23 years. I've never had a dash crack or any such problems. I think the answer is in the "when you stop using it" part. I don't stop using it. If I treat the interior of mine and my wife's cars every two weeks or so, I never have a problem. The only product I like better is 303 Aerospace. But it's more expensive and harder to find.

 

i use armor all...the only thing is it doesnt work like you would expect. there is NO getting this dashboard shinny with it because of the material it is made out of. But ill just stick to good ol Armor-all

 

i dont think the dash is supposed to be shiny...

 

it's not......rice-paper isn't shiney.....so why should our dash be???

 

i don't even worry about really cleaning it, it's not going to shine really, so i just use a rag to dust it off pretty much

 

why is armor all so harmful to the dash and why does it stain the driveway when i put it on the tires?

 

I use to use Meguiars Products and before that used Armorall. What I have discovered is that they both work great and look good after you apply but if you stop using it or do not apply withing a two week period, it tends to fade the color until you reaply. I used it on my Jeeps fenders and it looks great, but after a week or so they began to fade, reaply and they look great. I fear putting anything on the exterior that is black because of the fear of possible fading.

So microfiber wipes are the way to go for the dash, what about the exterior, something that wont fade if i forget to put it on.

do NOT use Armor All. their product will eventually dry up the dash and cracking can occur.

Wow, I must be really lucky then. I've used armorall on every car I've owned for 23 years. And that's on about 12 different vehicles. I've never had a single problem with it. As a matter of fact, it's always done a great job of keeping the dash and stuff in great condition. The one thing I will say about the rice paper dash on the xA, is you don't want to use the Armorall wipes. They leave too much lint behind. It works better if you spray regular Armorall onto a lint-free rag. I use old cotton T-sirts.

 

I've allways used armoral as well. I have never seen any kind of cracking. I think this may be true with vinyl dashes found in older cars not a modern plastic dash.
