Default Advice on fighting a ticket..

I recently got pulled over for speeding.. I really wasn't paying much attention and I knew I was speeding, but when he came back and handed me the ticket I took it and went on my way.. I got home and looked at and then I realized.. I never signed for this ticket.. Then I noticed that in the space where I should have signed he had written "Issued to driver." and I also noticed that the car information is incorrect and he had put the model as a "scion cP." Any chance of fighting this in court? If so, how would I even approach this to the judge? I heard somewhere that the ticket is void if not signed by the recipient or the information is incorrect?? Can anyone help me out..

First, cops are allowed to make mistakes. Honestly, if they write something incorrect on a ticket, they are protected and it can be adjusted so it really can't be used against them. Now, for handling the ticket, depending on how bad it really is, I would say go for a lawyer. Don't mess around and just get it taken care of that way. Now if its a minor speeding violation, trying your luck and going alone could be your best bet, it just depends on the situation.

I would say, if you were admitedly speeding. Say your sorry and wont do it again. Pay the ticket, then drive home at the speed limit. Yes court is there to argue your side. But to lie isnt cool. So just pay it and let the justice system be what it is, instead of an escape out of the truth.

If you have any other points on your record.. good luck fighting it.. unless you find a loop hole. If you do not have anything on your record.. then ask the judge for community service and pay the fine.. you might even get lucky and get a PBJ (Probation Before Judgement).. Good luck!

Only way to fight a speeding ticket, is to attack the calibration of the speed gun....the cops training in using it.

Dont know what its like in PA but in WA you can use a defferal on one ticket every seven year provided you have a decent or better driving record. If you were admittedly speeding and you seem pretty cool about it all, I would go to court and try to argue down the ticket by saying you were speeding but wont again (or something like that) You never knwo they might just be nice to you.

Otherwise, pay it and suck it up. Cops make little boo-boo's it still sucks but it happens.

No, unintended mistakes made by the officer writing the ticket such as a mispelled name, wrong car color, wrong model identification, etc., will not be sufficient to "beat" the ticket. By signing the ticket you are merely saying you received it; you are not admitting fault. You received the ticket and will be asked that by the judge. Don't perjure yourself, just ask for traffic school and after completion, it will be expunged.

You might do some research HERE. Click the "Please Help me for FREE" section at the left.

i got a ticket too in pa...driving last year with 10 other scions to mod madness and we all got pulled over. he did the same thing with my ticket. he wrote, "scion cp" and i was thought it might be a way out, but it's not. they just mean it's the scion coupe. i forget what the boxes got on their tickets. i also didn't sign mine there, but that doesn't mean anything. you still have to pay it.
