Antenna Location..
Hey guys, I was just wondering where the antenna was located on the xB I know it is not a regular antenna whip and I don't know if it is in the front windshield or in the rear.
Any help would be appreciated. |
It is in the passenger side rear window
|
Yup. The radio antennas in the xB are in BOTH rearmost side windows - looks like defroster wiring. Speaking of wiring, here is the wiring between the head unit and the antennas:
http://tijil.org/xb_ant_wire.gif Those diversity antennas also require an antenna amp, located up under the 'combination meter'... http://tijil.org/xB_ant_amp.gif And lastly, the antenna amp requires power, which it gets from the head unit power antenna lead: http://tijil.org/xB_HU_wiring.gif |
wow talk about detail. See the reason I am asking is because I just got a XM Satellite radio and it gives me a car kit that I have to either use a tape deck, which my xbo doesn't have, direct audio jacks (red and white), or wirelessly through a select channel, and I want to get the best quality so the only thing I can do is wirelessly because I can't do the other 2.

shouldnt there be a plug on the back of the HU for XM??? thought there was.....since its a factory option....
not sure where/what it would look like tho |

Yea I bought one of the seperate ones. Not the kit for the car because I like to use it more than just in my car. I got one of the ones that you can wear on you and I have a home kit and a car kit. I will have to look at that site and see if they have what you were talking about. Thanks for the help.

I have the full xB Repair Manual set, the Owner's Manual and most of the accessory installation documents as computer files (.pdf). I have a set on my server, a set on my primary machine, a set on my laptop, and BEST of all, a copy in a tiny, portable, keychain USB flash drive... :D http://tijil.org/USB_manuals01.jpg (Sounded like a good idea to me...) __________________ Tom |

Antenna puzzle
Im looking into upgrading my antenna for my 2005 Scion xB but I don’t have a roof connection all I can find that resembles a antenna is a little black nub in the top middle of the rear hatch and I can’t figure out how to upgrade the antenna from this nub. I am however leaning towards the “shark fin” style of antenna if it’s compatible with the “nub”. Any advice or suggestions would be extremely helpful. Thank you. |
