Default Having trouble setting up PS3 with new TV.

Hello guys and girls,

I need some help. I recently purchased new TV and recently recieved my PS3 from NY. My brother told me that my HDMI cable broke when i shipped it to him last year before i left for a year to do some thing aboard. Anyway he included regular AV cable that comes with PS3, i hooked everything up to AV2 and switched to AV2 mode well nothing happened and honestly i have no idea what am i supposed to do. I have ordered new HDMI cable and hopefully it will arrive in the next week or so...

Model of the TV: Panasonic Viera 42S2
Model of tha gadget: Sony Play Station 3
Cable: AV connected, HDMI in the mail.

Need help.

Thanks for those who will answer or try to help.

Heres the problem, is it all pitch black but you can hear sounds comming off the tv when you turn on the ps3?
If a ps3 is currently on HDMI output setting, then your gonna need the HDMI cable to be actually able to change it to AV setting..
Something dumb that the PS3 does

I had to do the power button hold to get the A/V output to switch modes when I had it connected to a standard TV over a weekend. It does work, it took me a couple of tries to do it though, this is on a older(bought in 2008 ) 20GB PS3. I was trying to time the release of the power button to for it to stay in the mode I wanted because it powered off for holding the button down to long on the first attempt (for some odd reason I'd get a black screen with audio, tried again and worked).

Like others have said. Its usually your resolution. You either have to change it back to standard or change it to 720-1080p if you have HDMI. If your using the standard, it should be 5 something. I dont remember but hold the power button to reset it.

ok thanks guys,
I holded down the button several times and all of a sudden i guess it resetted itself and it was fine.

So once i get my HDMI do i have to reset something again or just connect HDMI and it will go to HDMI mode automatically ?

When you hook it back up via HDMI, just go into the video settings and go back to HDMI with the proper resolution.
