Default What do you guys think about the Samsung Instinct?

Well today being my birthday and all, my sis calls me up and tells that she wants to get me a Instinct for my b-day. I kinda wanted one, thought it was cool & different than the iPhone (plus everyone and thier grandma has an iPhone - lol).

I currently have a Motorola RAZR for the past 2 years with Sprint. Kinda bored of it obviously. She said if I didn't want the Instinct I could just have the cash instead.

What do you guys think? Instinct or cash($300)?

my samsung upstage just died so i wanted a new phone ( the charging socket is damaged, so i couldnt charge it anymore)

so i went to a sprint store and spent a few minutes with the phone

ITS BIG!!! not sure but it might be a little bigger than the iphone!!!

but its a very very very good phone.. i wanted to buy it, but my pocket is not deep enough so i got the little samsung replaced for 35 dollars

back to the instinct

messaging is FAAAAST!

love the voicemail feature ( u can rewind ( its like a freakin media player!!!!),save delete, send a text immediately, no need to listen to the menu, everything is on the screen!
LOVE IT! much much better than the voicemail what we have used to.

calling, menu etc.. everything is cool!!!

voicecall is the BEST!!! well.. i got samsung upstage and i love it...

press the button then the phone ask what you wanna do then you say: Call Mom

and the phone will call your mom immediately OR!!! if the phone didin't understood what you said it will ask you: did you say Tom? you will say no
Did you say mom? and you will say yes

its really cool when you driving and the phone is in your pocket deep down behind your wallet, some change etc and you dont need to take the phone out just press the button on the headset and tell the phone what you want.
AWESOME!
btw when someone calls you the headset will not ring in your ears, making you deff, but beeps and let you know whos calling!!!
oh.. and you can teach the phone for the numbers so you can even call numbers with the voicecall .. just say call 561 165 1234

all samsung is like this. love them.

so if you need a new phone and you are at the Sprint then GO WITH THE PHONE!!!!!
i will love it!!! much better than anything on the market right now.. and 10 times better than the motorola!

i want that phone but dont have the money for it.

^^ thanks for the input.

I'm probably gonna get the phone. This RAZR needs to be put to rest and I still got another 18 months of payments on the car (no need to rush the mods)...so fugg it, gonna call my sis and tell her i want the phone

i was looking online at a couple reviews and most ppl like it. "best iphone contender, etc." Plus it has GPS (the RAZR has GPS but it sucks, screen is too small) which is nice when I need directions to meet up with a client to do freelance work.

Samsung makes pretty good products so I have "faith" in the Instinct I guess. I have a 40" Samsung HDTV and its great. PS3 looks amazing in HDMI.

My b/f just got the Instinct and he loves it-- internet comes up very quick, and its pretty easy to use once you get the hang of it-

I'd say the only thing that is kind of lame about it is that it comes with this "pen" to use on the touch screen, but unlike most palm pilots, that pen cannot slide somewhere into the phone itself, It actually has to be carried separately (wtf)

But other than that (and that is a very small issue), its THUPER!

I have the phone and have since it came out. Its GREAT its quick and it is actually smaller than the Iphone I believe. comes with a 2 gig mini sd card, extra battery, headset, cable to teather it to use it as a modem or to upload music, video, and pictures to.
I have only had one problem with the phone and that was the text messages went on the fritz but it fixed itself. GPS from what I have seen works just like any tom tom unit also takes excellent daytime pics and video

The Instinct is a wanna be iPhone.

With the release of iPhone software 2.0 and the unlimited amount of apps you can download, it's a no brainer.

You can actually download an app that measures your cars hp, 1/4 mile and 1/8 mile times, gains and losses due to mods and more!

The Instinct's browser also sucks. www.engadgetmobile.com

The Instinct is trash. It was a blatant attack at the iPhone and it failed.

Seriously, how is it different from the iPhone? It tries to emulate everything about it.

And What the hell? Why would anyone want to go to Sprint? They have the worst customer service, most complaints, and are on the brink of collapsing.

It's different than the iPhone because it's a piece of crap compared the iPhone. I love all the comparisons that Sprint makes between them showing the Instinct as the winner. They're so funny because they're so blatantly biased and wrongfully informative.

The Instinct doesn't even have a real touch screen. It's that cheap ____ where you have to actually press down.

I may be making the unpopular choice... but I bought a ATT Tilt.

I needed the ability to run "real" programs, such as word/excel/powerpoint ... as well as Epocrates/5MCC and a bunch of pocket-medicine programs. Also includes everything else you'd expect... GPS, 3G, WiFi, video, mobile TV, etc. etc.

Though... it runs windows... which is a blessing and a curse at the same time.

If you want SERIOUS functionality, that might be the way to go.

i bought the instinct yesterday.. LOVE it!!! upgraded from the samsung upstage.

only thing which is really bad that i cant texting without looking at the phone

( because there is no buttons so you cant count it out like 2 button left 1 down press it twice so you gonna get the k or whatever) because i could text blindfolded.. but not anymore
so i almost crash my car today no more texting while driving with this phone
