I'm in the Air Force based at Barksdale AFB in Shreveport, LA. My job is Crew Chief on the B-52H bomber. Nothing like a 1 1/2 hour refuel and 300,000lbs of fuel....

lol Speicher sucks just as it has always sucked. I def miss FOB Sykes up in Tel Afar from last deployment. I'm up in CAV country so the South DFAC is forever away so I don't get to go there much.

I feel your pain. I was on the other side of the airfield and there was nothing close. We had the Mermit Delight in our hanger but all the big DFACs were a drive and a half. Didn't get to go also.

I liked Tal Afar. Part of our MED was up there. I was stationed at Speicher and Mosul for most of my 15 months. Mosul was the poo. Good food, always at Tal Afar where there's also great food.

i heard 4th infantry is moving to colorado or something, so i guess first cav it is... they supposed to deploy to iraq by the end of next month. So i guess once i'll get attached to them i'm going right down to the theater. ohh well...sucks but hey alot of people came back alive and as a whole pieace.

 

I would love to work on heavies. The F-16 is nice and everything, but it gets a little redundant doing sheet metal work on. And believe me, you don't want to work on the flightline during the summer months...Its a nightmare.

 

That's true, my spraybooth has nothing on that. I miss Luke AFB, that was my first base that I was stationed at. I love it during the summer though...well not the flightline; instead the girls on the corner of a busy intersection in string bikinis holding signs for a car wash.

I see they got the same old paintbarn there.

 

Yeah Luke is my first base, I got here just as soon as it started to heat up. Everyone told me it was gonna be hot, but my perception of 'hot' wasn't 120 in the shade.

 

Im a E-3 also been in the AF for 1 1/2 yrs. Im use to those kinds of temps in az since I lived there for 18yrs. Also sux on workin on heavies cause you need a ladder for everything! Ill trade you jobs!!!!

 

Flea... how close are you to camp pedleton out there in CAlifornia.... Im gonna need a lip painted before long.

 

35 minutes away. What color car and what lip.

I miss Arizona, would rather live out there than in California.

Did Mosul still smell like rotting garbage and poop? The only part I hated about going over there besides the constant mortars was the smell.
