Ok so last night on my way home, I got pulled over and I wasn't doing anything wrong. So I asked the cop why I was being pulled over and he said that it was because of my window tint. I was like you have got to be kidding me. Then he says and you exhaust is too loud. At this point I realized that he was gonna bust my ***** and I was hoping that he was just gonna try and shake me up a little and let me go. So I tried to play stupid and I said well I thought that as long as tint was 35% or under that it was legal. And of course he corrected me and said that any window tint is illegal. He said I had too options, either I could take the tint off or he would have to write me a ticket. So I said sure I can have it taken off. He said no either I take it off right now or he was gonna give me citation. I was floored that he was even suggesting this. He says it is just a sticker and it will peal right off. Huh? So I tried to make the attempt of taking it off and honest to God it just wasn't happening. Now at this time another patrol car shows up and he starts busting my *****. And all I could think about was why does it take two cops to pull me over for tint. So the other cop starts saying well these lights are too bright (8000K HID's), the car is too low (Tein S-Techs), and that my emblems were not on the car. I started getting pretty ____ed and tried to keep my cool so that things would not get worse. So he writes me a ticket and says that I have to appear in court and that I could be fined up to $250!!! All of this for tint? My tint is only 40% and is not even that dark. I didn't even pay that much for the tint!!! Has anyone else gone through something like this before? What should I expect when I go to court and does anyone have any tips?

I don't know about where you live, but here in Va. tint is a pre-payable offense..

Sounds like you got the "Ricer" treatment... If you were in a camaro or mustang they would have just pulled up, said the car looked nice, and drove off!!!!

Yeah, what yeldak said. I knew cops back in Jersey that would bust the ricers ***** like that. Just jump through the hoops man, and rest easy knowing the cops are out there keeping us safe from innocent people with nice cars. Not really much you can do about crappy cops.

 

You're only allowed 70% in RI.
What you could do is remove the tints and show them the car. They should dismiss the ticket.

thats a crazy BS from the cops, looks like they are harassing you.. If the ticket they wrote is only for the tint and they gave all those BS comment like you car is too low, exhaust too loud, HID too bright, if you think you didnt do anything illegal and they made those comments than maybe you can file a complain.. dont know how to do that though.. and "its just a sticker, it will peel right off" is retard comment it needs to be removed with an adhesive remover, you should have said how about me peel of your pubic hairs how would you feel? hahaha

 

That suks Josh, sounds like you just got a dik head cop. Thats why i havent tinted my side windows yet. I just got the back hatch tinted 20%. What if you throw your plates on a car at the dealer and take a few pictures of it and go to court with the pictures and tell the judge ok its all set, here are some pictures of my car to show you..

Or if you have some older pics of your car before the tint use those and photo shop the date on the pictures to the day before court so that the judge will see the date on the pictures and say, ok pay court cost.. BANG next..

Ok this is total BS and harrasement, first of all he lied because they can't pull you over for the tint, you called him on it, so he said exhaust which is something they can do.

As far as making you take off the tint on the spot, can't do that either they have to give you a "fix-it or ticket" basically giving you a set period of time to fix the item wrong or give you a ticket. Thats just wrong.

As far as the other items they listed, they were just harrasing you and i would have been ____ed too! No emblems... wow...As far as car car height, did they measure headlight height? If not don't worry about it. Did they measure you headlight output? If not don't worry about it. This sounds like a lot of things that they do in Cali honestly.

All in all I would retain a lawyer to fight the ticket (which will probly be the same amount as they ticket but that way it won't be on your record). This is plain and simple profiling and I HATE THIS. Keep us update as what happens...

btw. what speciffically is the ticket written for?
