osama bin laden is dead!!
This is what I call news. Here's a link to the CNN Live player, awaiting Obama's national address: http://edition.cnn.com/video/flashLi...stream=stream1
BTW Barack Hussein Obama did nothing but say go so why is everyone all over his dick today? CIA and JSOC had a major victory, which btw, they would have done with or without his consent. CIA is a civilian intelligence agency, non-police force that operates on their own accord on foreign soil, where congress and the president really have no authority over them.

Sorry but informing him of what they were going to do was only out of courtesy. The CIA could have gone in and killed him without telling him. The reason they did was most likely because of Pakistan and possible repercussions of that (most likely will lead to Pakistani hatred of us more than it is now). He had absolutely nothing to do with this directly. Pretty sad this will more likely than not get him reelected and honestly I would rather have Obama dead that Osama. One kills us economically and one killed 3000 of us 10 years ago. One leads to a great recovery and the other leads to possible renewed interests in attacks and will not actually slow or stop terrorism. Don't get me wrong I am happy he is dead, he needed to die; just his scope of damage that he can do is much lower than that of Obama.
Did Obama personally orchestrate the raid? No. Authorize? Yes.
However, his actions in pulling out of Iraq, which was never a threat to national security, and re-allocating those ground forces to Afghanastan put pressure on and drained the resources of Al Queda and Osama. Coupled with that was the advocasy / authorization of increased predator / reaper strikes w/ in Pakistan, significantly weakening the mid-level terrorist leadership through attrition and forced Ql Queda to operate under increased exposure. Through the state department (part of the president's cabinet) we gained further access, cooperation and intelligence in Pakistan, allowing us to get close to the target without ____ing off the entire country, whom we rely on as our major logistics and supply route for the war in Afghanastan.
The world is more complex than Al Queda BAD, US good, and it's nice to have a president who understands that. Oh, and one who keeps campaign promises, like this one from 2008

... if we have Osama bin Laden in our sights and the Pakistani government is unable or unwilling to take them out, then I think that we have to act, and we will take them out. We will kill bin Laden. We will crush al-Qaida. That has to be our biggest national security priority. - Barack Hussein Obama
