my fish let me play with them, i put my hand in and the poke at me, plus i could sit there with my girlfriend all day and watch the fish swim. they grow their own personalities so either some fish or a mouse/rat

This past weekend, the wife and I just bought 2 Giant Day Geckos (Geico gecko) and a Picasso Panther Chameleon.

We have problems.

Geckos aren't too bad. Mist them once a day, chuck some meal worms and/or crickets in the cage and you're golden. Clean the cage once a month or as needed. The only problem is they are fast little @#$s and you can't just grab them as they have very soft skin and will do whatever they can to get away. The two I have were given for free because one had the end of his tail bitten off and the other was missing a lot of skin around his neck due to the previous owner trying to grab him. They are doing much better now and almost completely healed.

The Chameleon is another story. This is our third chameleon and we haven't had any luck. The past two have randomly died. They have the great setups with ideal temperatures, plenty of UVB, plenty of moisture, but for some reason, they just died. They weren't poorly bred Petsmart Chameleons either. The thing with Chameleons is they will just randomly kick the bucket anytime before they are 1 year old without warning.

The one we just got is 13 months, so hopefully he'll live. They are really cool assuming you get a nice one. I'll pull ours out and he'll just hang out on my shoulder for hours.

They need pretty high humidity, so you either need to spray him multiple times a day or get a mister system, which is pretty pricey ($150+). They need a pretty specific temperature hot spot and a good UVB bulb. Our is "cup trained" so I just throw 10-12 crickets in a small tupperware container that they can't jump out of and the chameleon stands on the edge and picks them off. Pretty funny to watch.
