Default Scion's being stolen..

What Is it with South Florida and theft with Scion's specifically tC's, they are being stolen amazingly fast and in great quantities.
It is not just the cars themselves but people are stealing PARTS of tC's like crazy.

Is anywhere else like this or is it a Miami phenomenon?

What do y'all suggest for safety features other than the big club you use for your steering wheel?

I have actually witnessed it, called the cops never knew the outcome. I have plenty of friends whom have PARTS FROM THEIR ENGINES stolen,
and not to mention my home boy's neighbor had his tC stolen straight from his parking lot at his complex.

Its worse than Civics down here. Its a little worrying to be honest.

How is that possible??? Are they towing the cars??? Doesnt tC come with an ignition device that prevents hot wiring???

i haven't heard of that up here. they could be just loading them up on the tow trucks and driving off with them, but you might hear the truck outside. i don't know.

I've never herd of a problem with tC's out in SoCal either. But when I was purchasing my tC I found may websites stating the the newer Camry's were by far to most stolen cars. Being that the car is very similar, that's might be why they are being stole.
A few years back I had a Civic that was broken into but not stolen b/c I invested in something similar to the club I think its called Autolock but can't recall. I actually still use it. I haven't herd of a car being stolen when it was used. Instead of clamping on to the steering wheel it locks behind any one of your pedals.
So if you have manual tranny you set the Autolock on the clutch pedal and it doesn't not allow you to push down on it. No way for them to drive it away. If you have an Automatic you place it on the brake and the car will not turn on. Just my opinion. I purchased mine at AutoZone for $50 and have had it for over 4 years now. Or just use a hidden kill switch.

What will stop these guys (other than a gun, of course)!?
Would buying a couple of Denver Boots make it much harder for them to steal the tCs??
Anyone here knows if a boot can be frozen and smashed?
Just wondering......

in prior cars, I have installed a hidden switch that is for the fuel pump.... I would turn it off the switch before I got out and only had my car broken into but not stolen... no gas, no go

Actually, when I got my tC, we put on the full gambit of security features because we were worried about this car being so new and hard to get that they might be a very hot item to have. also because they share a lot of parts with Camry's, which are stolen a lot too.

I got Scion Security, LoJack, and also, the dealership stenciled my VIN number on every glass surface in my tC, except for the mirrors, so the windshield, each roof panel, hatch, and side windows have my VIN on them. Don't know how much that helps, but it makes
it harder to resell if you have to replace all those glasses to get rid of the VIN number.

dude WTF are you talking? This is the first I hear of ppls tC's getting jacked in Miami. What areas are these cars being taken from???? Please elaborate. Because this is the first I hear of it.
But I wouldn't be surprised if its guys with boosted tC's boosting their motors and then blowing them up. I know a few ppl out in Miami who are shady as hell tC drivers.

Well TCpete, at first it was just people breaking into the cars when something was visible, i.e wallets, purses, or even something as stupid as a cellphone, but recently
within the past 5 months I've been hearing many stories from people with their tC's being stolen, although a big part of them had their cars retrieved by the cops.

Like I said, I even witnessed a car theft a few weeks back and my friends neighbor had his stolen right out of his complex building yesterday, I thought it was very strange as well

Never heard of the tC being stolen. I am a big fan of the AutoLock though. It will def. slow them down.

Kendall??? damn.. I would expect more Hondas then Scion out in Kendall. They are probably jacking system stuff.

I know a lot of xBs having that problem but not tC's. I'm glad I don't ride out in Kendall but dam of all places Kendall??

Well Miami is going to hell with all these car thefts for Hondas recently. I'm just shocked ppl are taking tC's. I dunno for what? Rims don't fit on anything else but Matrix's and Corollas. Can't stand it much more here but I'm stuck.
Glad I don't have anything of value. LMK if you here any more of this and let me know what parts have been taken. I usually hear a lot of stuff on the street so if I can help with the recovery of parts. I'd be more then happy to help.
