Default shop refusing to pay to replace window tint

I just got my windshield tinted an hour ago. As soon as I got into the car, i noticed the windshield strip was crooked. I went home and measured to make sure, and i found out it was an inch lower on the passenger side. I called the shop, explained the situation, and the tinter told me he would attempt to peel the strip off and raise it on one side. He said he couldnt guarentee it would be fixable. I asked him if he couldnt fix it that way, what he could do, and he said "well youd be screwed." I replied telling him I just paid money for the service and it wasnt my fault it was crooked, and he replied with "well ill tell you right now im not replacing it, you have to realize what youre asking." He told me to be up there at 8am in the morning and he would see what he could do.
Does he have the right to tell me hes not going to fix his own work? Its crooked, I cant drive with a crooked strip. What steps should I take? I also asked him if there was a manager i could talk to, and he said "no, when it comes to tint its just me."

I wouldnt back down, tell him its his screw up and to fix it. Be firm but not hostile. If he doesnt find the shop owner and complain. that doesnt work then report them to the bbb. Tell the peeps in your area about your experiance.

other than that idk what els you could do.

If keeps trying to pull that crap tell him you want to speak to the owner of the shop or have him just remove the tint and get your money back and go somewhere else. They should have business cards so see if you can find one for the owner/manager.

Do you have a receipt also? See if the receipt says anything about a situation like this, such as if they guarantee their work or what not.

If they effed up then they need to man up and fix it regardless of the cost to them.

May want to also consider reporting them to the BBB while you're at it and if they won't fix it make sure you tell them that's what you're going to do.

One last thing - did you pay with a credit card? Could always try disputing the charge with the credit card company, especially if they have something that says they guarantee their work.

Good luck and hope that gives you some ideas

be professional about it and do not act like a a*hole about the situation. if they still refuse then sue them. dont let them waste anymore of your time and jump on it.

Wow, luckily the one who did my tint swapped the small passenger side rear window no problem, had a nice size piece of fabric caught in it. I just met him next time he did tint work at the dealership. May you get this worked out. I'm really picky of work done on my car so I dont leave the lot until I look the car over and work done and I'm satisfied. This is the reason why one dealership refuses to do any work with my wheels(they put a few light scratches near the centercap).
