Default GTA buying process

Hey guys.

I am looking at getting a 2012 tc and was wondering how was the buying experience with scion...

I know the idea behind scion is one price, but was anyone able to get any discount on the list price?

Or what else I was thinking and hoping was too see if they would include a few accessories in the list price..

What was your experience..

Thanks guys!

There is almost no markup in the cars being priced where they are. You'll be lucky to get much if anything off the MSRP.

You'd have better luck asking for an accessory you want for the car thrown in. Just my 2 cents.

Accessories should not be a problem. Just don't be unreasonable.

The price flexibility depends on the rep and the dealership.

Like 1stOne said, the markup is not much so they can't really budge on that without cutting into their already small profit, except on accessories as most of those are done at the dealership. But it can be done

Only factory installed options like Leather and Security are done at Toyota Warehouse in Scarborough (1 Toyota Pl) before the car is handed to the dealership.

Bigger dealerships like Erin Park and Don Valley North have knowledgeable staff and can work with you on price but I chose Toyota on Front for my tC which is a small sized dealership.

Remember some parts are easy and cheap for you to do yourself after you buy the car. Eg: If you are into audio then why upgrade when you will just be replacing the deck. Why get all weather mats when WeatherTech DigitalFit are much better? Things like that.

Good luck!

The all season mats come with the '12's.

I got a bit off things in the sale but not the car i.e. warranty, rust proofing.
Also got some free body work out of the deal and some swag etc.

I'm just about to pull the trigger on a new 2011 scion... some dealers in the GTA are offering to match your downpayment (up to $1500) which is pretty good. I haven't discussed throwing in accessories.

I'm just looking for heated cloth seats and a rear spoiler. I'm hoping to get one of these thrown in! (about $600 each).

this is my first post here, though i've been lurking for a while learning about these cars...

test drove the an Auto RS yesterday... mine will be stick for sure.

Yea, that's what i thought. But when i went into the dealer, he said they can easily add them to cloth as well.

I personally don't care for leather... (love the look though) i work in an office and am a sweaty guy haha

coming back to the after spending my lunch at the gym in the summer time leaves me with a soaked back with leather.

Purchased a 2011 xB off the lot and it had a spoiler, hood deflector, upgraded sound system, and leather interior. They split the difference on the spoiler and hood deflector and they didn't charge me the admin fee of $399. I also got a cool scion hat. With the $1000 match the downpayment rebate I saved about $1800 off the sticker price. Picked up the car and it had a full tank of gas! I had a very positive experience purchasing my first Scion.

I pulled the trigger on a 2011 tc yesterday!

I wanted megnetic gray, stick, cloth seats-

But I got Silver, dealer installed 2 tone heated leather (no cloth left on the lot), auto, dark tint, spoiler, black hood deflector (will probably delete it).

I got it from aurora Toyota! They were superb to deal with. After seeing the above post yesterday morning, I got them to throw in a baseball cap to boot haha

We were haggling for close to 3 hours... But we were all laughing half of the time! Big thumbs up for aurora Toyota!!

Hmm I hope you got a pretty decent deal then. Sounds like you caved into whatever the dealership had available and didn't want to wait for a car with options that you wanted.

But congrats on your purchase!

It does doesn't it.... Nope, I had a certain monthly payment budget and stuck to it. Between the finance rate and dealer incentives on 2011, I got it for significantly less then a 2012 (everything being equal). I was planning on buying in the summer originally.

Oh sweet a 2011 model. Good deal then they are practically the same as 2012 (-1 light bulb).

Now start modding

Congrats Higgs! Attach some pics if you get a chance. Glad you got a hat out of the deal. I always tell people I paid $23000 for a hat and they threw in the car! lol

Congrats! I take it you live near Aurora? You should join up at www.sciontario.com to check out when and where local meets will be taking place. I'm sure all us "Ontarians" would love to check out your new ride!

WOW, picked up the car yesterday. For some reasone i'm WAY more impressed with it than the one i test drove. Maybe because it's mine now? I test drove the yellow one with black rims that has all the TRD stuff on it. Hated the exhaust on it (but 10 years ago, i would have loved it!)... and couldn't get the hang of the tiptronic... It's backwards from a BMW... or maybe beemer's backwards... anyway, took a bit to get used to.

I'll join up at sciontario for sure! Not sure about mods yet, but a turbo is tempting hehe.

**edited for terrible spelling**
