Default Intake system development

Hey guys,

I'm looking to develop a new intake system for the 2007-2010 Scion tC 2.4L. I will need a project car for this that is relatively stock. If you are located near Chicago (60130) and possibly interested in helping me, shoot me a PM, and I will give you more information.

Interesting!

I went out there today to have the car measured. Impressive. They scanned my engine compartment, created a 3-d image & they're going to fab a prototype from that.

I researched the company first. The filter they created is synthetic dry media. Organic (paper or oiled cotton) breaks down. This doesn't. You just blow it out once a year!

They let me watch as they put my stock intake on a flow apparatus & showed how restrictive it is...

By the way, these guys are established in the Sprint Car community & Military, so I trust them.

I blew it. My 2007 tC was flooded and it was totaled. The replacement I found was a clean 2006. Different MAF. Different ECU. Somebody else gets the intake...

Wrap your header and cat. The outside of my cat was at 525f on a 90 degree race day.

Do not use either on a daily driver. It traps moisture causing premature decay of the header. It is a race specific thing or if you are melting wires/hoses.

Just for some trivia: last summer, I was at a regional autocross event. It was in the 90's, and a fellow competitor shared his pyrometer.
The head was around 220f.
The precat was around 520f.
I'm sure it would drop the underhood temps with an aftermarket header. Unfortunately, my class doesn't allow removal of the precat, so my only route would be Dezods showpiece.
