15,000 Miles/Maintenance Required
Hey all. I tried the search and figured I'd just ask what you all did. I've got a bit more than 15,000 miles on it now, and when I start it up the Mainenance Required light blinks 7 times and then turns off.
Is that just telling me I need the recommended 15,000 mile service? Or is there actually a problem? There's a Check Engine and a Maintenance Required light, right? The first meaning there's a problem, the second meaning it's time for the recommended service? My next oil change is in another 1,000-1,500 miles. Is it safe to just wait until then? Don't they reset that light when you get your oil changed?

Nevermind...I'm dumb...
"After you've driven your Scion for a few thousand miles, you will see a "maintenance required" orange light flash for a few seconds in the center display console every time you start your car. Do not be alarmed. this is just a reminder to have your oil changed. If you change your own oil, you can reset the light. here is how:
1. Turn on the ignition and make sure it is on your odometer display, not the trip display.
2. Turn off your ignition. Hold down the trip meter reset button and turn the ignition on. Keep the button pushed in.
3. The maintenance required light will flash for a few seconds. when it turns off, let go of the reset button.
The the display will change for 1 second and go back to the mileage. That's it. "

Yes. If it's blinking it means you're getting close to the scheduled maintenance - or getting close to 5000 miles since the last time when it was reset. As long as you're keeping track of your oil change schedule, you could reset the light and follow your own schedule. Check the Maintenance and Car Care forum for how to reset it. Or a quick search of "maint req light" will get you some results.
