Default LED inspection fail

Okay, so I just got told by the dealership that my blinkers won't past state inspection (in VA) because I switched them over to LEDs ( I upgraded the flasher module too so I wouldn't get hyper flash problems). Is there any truth to this? Or has anyone else had their inspection fail because of this or anything similar?

Tks. Mm11

That is false. As long as they are the right color and you can still see them from just as far away as the incandescent. I would ask them to show you in the book where is says that and if they can't find it to prove it they need to speak to someone who can find the code. It also doesn't fall under the non factory part clause either as no bulb you ever buy unless you go to the dealer is going to be that way.

Go find another dealer or place that offers them. Ive passed from my local priority dealer with 300k hid high beams and led fogs.

Friend of mines told me he had a rejection because his sway bar was leaking. :D He thought that was bunk and went to another gas station that offers inspections, he passed. I looked at his car and told him Id fail you for having 2 bald tires, but that was me. :D

As far as the lights, you would have to read the federal law on it, but aftermarket HIDs are illegal in all 50 states, regardless of projectors, install, etc. There is a law that states that any aftermarket headlight (aka HIDs on a car that did not come with them) is a no no. If it covers turn signals, then maybe that is where they got it.

However, as long as they are the right color and brightness and dont hyperblink, how are most inspectors going to even know? I love our inspections here .... because we dont have them!
