Default Violated

Well, I believe I filled some of you in on the fact that my car was keyed last week. It must've happened at school but I really have no way to know who did it or why. I got an estimate from the body shop that fixed the xB when I got rearended last year but they wanted nearly $400 for the repair, so I've been looking for a cheaper way to fix this mess.

The violation occurred on the rear, right below the Scion emblem on the sheetmetal and on the handle used to open the hatch. Since that's where the bulk of the scratches were and the body shop insisted on trying to "repair" it, I just ordered a new handle from the dealer because they come painted and I figure it'll be no sweat to replace it myself. That just leaves one scratch right below the emblem on the sheetmetal.

Anyone know any techniques to deal with key marks or someone who could fix it for a good price?

how deep is the scratch?

cause you can buff out surface ones... but like on my mazda.. if you see metal... its got to be sanded down and re done ..

just order a carbon hatch

Yeah, it's deep so buffing is a no-go. I think I'm gonna get a second opinion from another shop since I'm gonna just replace the handle myself.

Thanks Brian, I think I'm gonna try to get that handle replaced on Thursday if the dealer gets it in by then. I'll give you a call after I get that sorted out.
