BBS wheel rebuild project.
I just got done rebuilding some 2-piece BBS wheels for my xB. I have always been into the deep wheel stretched tire look so I had to continue the trend on my xB.
As some of you may remember back in 2006 I had some steel wheels custom built for me that measured 15x8" then I stretched the stock tires on them. That was a great look but then I decided to up the class of my car a bit.
Over the past 9 months or so I have been working on a new set of wheels. The wheels are a 2-piece BBS wheel called the RM. They are a 15" wheel and were the OE wheels for the Mk2 VW GTI, and were also used on some Coraddo's.
I bought mi particular set from a 1992 VW GTI that was being parted out. They were in rough shape and one was slightly bent, but they were rebuildable.
First thing I did was take the outer lips off of them. I then hammered the bent wheel so it was nearly round again. After that I had the wheels media blasted and powdercaoted Charcoal Metallic.
After the wheels were preped, I had 4 new outer lips custom made for me. These new lips make the wheels 8" wide and end up with an offset of 5mm. Along with the lips I ordered up all new chrome bolts.
Here are some pics from various steps of the build. They are currently finished and sitting in my garage with tires on them ready to go on my car.

I went with Falken Zeix 912's because they offer decent traction but they still have a good treadlife rating.

I would say that is a fine project, and a fine tire choice. I've had the Falfens on my Xa for 6months( winter...) and enjoys them greatly. Winter driving is touchy with cold hard tires but I got through..
again very nice job on the rims, TOTAL $ INVESTED?

Got the wheels on Saturday night and it has rained ever since..... lol The wheels are absolutely gorgeous and I am so glad I built them.
I should be able to shoot some pics today and I'll get them posted tonight.

I saw you sitting at the light waiting to turn left onto Main Street in Maple Grove las Monday (the 7th). My wife and I were in the BCP xB turning left onto Weaver Lake Rd. We both thought it looked great!
