Yep and that was the show at Lawrence Scion where he let some kid jump in his car and rev his engine...then, he had some engine problems.

pretty sure just about every single car has a rev limiter...and a speed limiter too usually.

 

Yes, we have a rev limiter and a speed limiter. 127 mph and 6250 ish for revs. Whatever person allows their turbo'd TC to bounce off the limiter in neutral deserves what they get. If it were 2-step or something, I might see the point in demonstrating to your friends how it works but the limiter is just cutting fuel which is what keeps your car safe in regards to AFR's. Not to mention the oil feed psi going up and down to cool and lubricate your turbo.... fail in my book.

sounds like a 2 step launch control to me. I think it would take a tiny bit longer to get to the red line. I have heard many 2 step launch control systems in many cars. Thats what it sounds like to me. And I also think most people are not stupid enough to bounce their car off of red line like that. But hey what do I know....

 

No way was that 2 step. I know several people with 2 step on their boosted TC's and that was revved waaaay too high.

 

doubt it is...the owner of the car supposedly only ever had the turbo in the car for shows ONLY. also said to us many times that he was running it completely untuned and always had problems with the turbo and his engine.
