"engine maintenance soon" light???
I'm a relativity (new to me) owner of a 2008 Scion XB.
It has approx 122K miles on it. Just yesterday, upon start-up, I get a light that flashes On/Off for about 10 seconds, that says...""ENGINE MAINTENANCE SOON". I bought the vehicle used, so no owners manual. I'm assuming that it's some type of routine maintenance light. Could anyone enlighten me? Roger |
change your oil reminder lamp and other check stuff out that might need to be changed or maintained

If its an oil change, what needs to be done to "reset" the light? |
make sure the odo is set on total miles and not trip miles, make sure car is off hold reset odo/trip button down, turn on key keep holding down till it's done with the reset process

I know this is going to sound COMPLETELY unrelated,
but when driving my car home after the oil change, I was on getting ready to turn onto my street. I looked down at my speedometer and it said I was doing 52mph!!! It went down to Zero when I completely stopped, but then when I started going again (approx 4-5 mph), it said I was doing 24mph. When I backed into my driveway, it said I was doing 10mph (backwards). When the Mechanic reset the "maintenance required light", could he have re-calibrated the speedometer in some way? I've never had/experienced this issue before??? |

By the way, if this is a joke, it is creative. |

What you have there is not at all done because Scion allowed a back door for an adjustment to your speedometer. It is unusual to say the least what you have. There are a lot of precautions that prevent tampering with the speedometer on vehicles.

By the way, if this is a joke, it is creative. I took it back to the shop, and when the mechanic went to reset the "Maintenance Required" light, he set the speedometer to KILOMETERS, instead of MPH. So as I'm going down the freeway at 55MPH (using my GPS), it said I was doing 94-103 Kilometers! Pf course this is BEFORE we figured out the mistake, so it was "Trippy" to say the least. All is fine now. |
htf did he get to that stage of the setup?!
