Doh.. that sux...

i may have some skirts for ya in a week or so.... i'd say lip too but i know that already has like a 1" crack on pass corner from when a bumper flew off on the free way shortly after i got it...

dugzilla 01-25-2007 11:43 AM

how bad is the front lip? I have my old one that is in good shape, but you would probably want to repaint it.

kenr74 01-25-2007 04:00 PM

How did chains do all that damage?

dugzilla 01-25-2007 04:02 PM

I am guessing that one came off?

DolphinV8 01-25-2007 05:50 PM

front lip is kinda bad, and yes tire chains came off while I was driving.

willlangford 01-25-2007 06:13 PM

kk i want your lip if you are going to get rid of it!

nwscionman 01-25-2007 06:23 PM

I have seen cars driving with like one "string" that has broken and swinging up, trashing the fender as they drove... chains are burly

kkawana 01-25-2007 06:25 PM

Will.. will keep a in mind :)

Tomas 01-25-2007 06:52 PM

Things like this are a good advertisement for Campbell cable chains cinched up really well, and inspected every time before one starts to drive. (Even then, they sometimes thrash a car, but usually don't damage it as badly or as often as chain chains.)

Sounds like you are getting some help on the parts for the box! :)

Hope you box gets better soon.

this is why I am against chains on a car, would go with studs if I had to choose, sorry to hear about your xB, good luck.

mocascion 01-26-2007 05:41 PM

I love studs...on my tires!

I usually always buy studded weather tires instead of ever mess with chains/cables. I haven't ever bought them for the xB because Mo want to stick with the stock wheels as the winter set. I'm not quite comfortable driving on the stock wheels in extreme conditions. That keeps me in the garage in ice and snow and thus avoiding any accidents

JIMXB 01-26-2007 06:11 PM

How fast were you drivng??? Normally, on chains the manufacturers don't recommend going over 30 MPH.

Tomas 01-26-2007 06:59 PM

(Remember, though, if you are going across one of our local passes, if the sign says "CHAINS REQUIRED" it means chains required - snow tires, studded tires, etc. don't count.)

ohcanada_00 01-26-2007 11:26 PM

yeah hate the chains, good lucks getting the box fixed.... if you need a hood in silver I have one!

as a side note, BLIZZAKS all the way. no need to ruin the road with studs even here in the NW as it just doesnt snow enough unless you live at a much higer elevation in the famous convergence zone.

buy one set of Blizzaks and you'll be set for like 10 years!

mattross 01-27-2007 04:21 AM

How much for that silver hood?

singleshot 01-27-2007 03:57 PM

BLIZZAKS Rock... Running all four on my steelies for winter use.. But like Thomas said, requirements on the passes are just that, requirements.

Sorry to hear about the box, that sucks

dskinner 01-27-2007 04:06 PM

I live in Tucson, what are these chains you speak of, are they for that white powder stuff that falls from the sky? We got some of that recently and it made all the mountains around appear white. It was weird, because when you took a breathe, you could see it!

Feel bad for you carson0627, hope my stupid blabber cheared you up a little.
