Default Stereo question

So once I get the gauge lights done...which it is looking like i will have to find a pro...cuz I don't trust myself or my husband to do this alone.... I will want to change the stereo. We currently have the stock single CD stereo. I was considering if I should buy the Scion Premium stereo or something else. My main thing is I would like the Ipod and AUX jacks already in the car to still work...is that possible with a different stereo?

Any recommendations? I mean I don't need anything too fancy,....I just want to be able to have the blue on the stereo since our gauge will be like that eventually LOL

You would be foolish to use anyone other than:

Honestly go see Kingpin.......they are really really good.....

For the upgraded Scion Premium stereo.....you could get a touch screen Pioneer and it will play DVDs,ipod,Bluetooth, video in and out,and if you spend a bit more an AVIC D3 or the new AVIC at about $900.

Check out what everyone is running at the show and get some ideas.Ask us lots of questions and you will get a good idea of what is out there.

Andgo see Kingpin......they are very good guys.

Also many double din touch screens like Pioneer can change colors of the lighting to what ever you need.....mine has like hundreds of colors or something.

Thanks for the tips and such. Although honestly not sure I am up for a $900 stereo LOL That's more than my rent payment...then I would be paranoid about it getting jacked. I figured I could find someone who is getting rid of their Scion Premium for less than dealership costs and such....

Not as hard as you think....saw a few in the classifieds for $200-300..... But perhaps we will just have to get more Avon customers and such so we can get the one you mentioned....that is HOT. Then I gotta get me a premium security system Tee hee. Aww does the list of wants ever end?

are you planning on changing your speakers? getting amplifiers? sub woofers? if you are just changing your head unit, why? I mean, sure, getting a new head unit, may sound a little better, but will it sound much better? Will it sound $200-500 better ? doubtful imo.

Unless you are changing your speakers, and/or getting amps, i would not really bother, save your money for something else for now.

Car audio can become pretty expensive if you dont know what you are going for right away, god only knows i know

if i were you, i would consider sitting down, planning out your stero, researching parts and getting more of an idea of what your end goals are before buying something you may regret later.

Also, you can get an Alpine with ipod control right off the head unit for $200.

My suggestion is think what you want from the stero before you go ahead and buy anything. Hope this helps a little

don't quote me on it, but the scion premium should still be able to use your aux and ipod jacks that are in the car

I have the Upgraded Pioneer Head Unit and like it a lot. I really can't stand touch screens and I figure a thief wouldn't bother to try and steal a double din head unit that says Scion on it so this was a great choice.

Oha nd great point about the steering wheel Don. What's in your wife's Gen2?

I personally am not sure I want a touch screen...just more stuff to steal and more stuff that could go wrong. I would just be happy with the upgraded because I want the color changing...I know silly reason to want the upgraded...but hey...my car is a family/daily driver.....so I don't need an incredible system. Might consider upgrading speakers at some point....but right now the mods I want are mostly business related (doing decals) and some asthetics for my personal taste.

I don't aspire to have a show car...don't have the disposable income to have that....but I like my car and want it to be nice enough for me....

You can find used D3s in the classifieds thats where I got mine. It was deff worth the 500 I paid for it. I love this unit.

(Plus, it will take care of your GPS problem)
