so i got pulled over for my exhaust a few months ago and today i had to go to court for it,
judge said if i fixed it i said yes and i have the state ref sticker saying that i passed gave it to him and he said ok your free to go and all charges are dropped it actually went better than what i had expected and i didn't have to pay anything which was good. :P |
ok i got pulled over for loud exhaust (i have full headerback with the trd exhaust) then they popped my hood and saw my intake and header. why cant someone in socal just buy my friggin header?! ugh....
anyone have a rough estimate of how much it will be? i also just got a bogus ticket for speeding and tint and front license plate two weeks ago... looks like im going back to stock. |
I am getting ready to transfer out to camp pendleton. Can they still give me a ticket if my car is registered for WV.

On my old car I got 2 exhaust tickets in like a week.. I had way to much stuff to even care about bringing it near a court. I did not pay about a month later i got a bill for 128$..
Beast the cost it would of been! Just a fix-it ticket nothing bad on my record :-) |
ive been wanting to get an injen exhaust but dont want to have to deal with the cops so has anyone been ticketed with an injen exhaust?
the injen exhaust should be ok...it doesnt mean cops wont hassle you for it. once installed, go to your local referee and have them test it so when a cop pulls u over for it, you can show him the certification and maybe he wont ticket you.
I hope this might help some of you folks out there.I was looking at diffent mufflers system when i came across this site by mistake. This may solve all your loud exhaust noise if you think you might have been heard by the cop's just tell them i have no idea what your talking about. take a look at this site and let me know what you think ..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7jGYnhbQQU AFTER you have looked at that site lisen to this ride,VERY NICE SOUND.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FXCY4s5Glo |
i have an hks exhaust will this fail smog or db noise. i also got supercharger
all depends on your state laws...but it should pass
there really needs to be a site with the smog and db levels of exhausts. im about to buy a strup exhaust for the box and im worried about getting pulled over. anyone have any info on this particular exhaust? im also planning on getting the silencer
^^if you have the silencer...you don't need to worry if you have it in, and i believe that exhaust is well below 95 dcb
So... i got pulled over on friday night about 5 blocks from my house and guess what for? Exhaust. So i pulled out my info from the referee and the cop said he had never seen anything like that. He was cool since i was being nice too, and he let me go but told me to go to the DMV and get a letter of approval from them. So i went to the DMV and they had NO CLUE as to what the hell he was talking about. So hopefully he doesn't pull me over again. It sucks when an officer pulls you over for modifications, and doesn't even know the laws himself...he also said my car was dangerously close to being "too low" (h-techs)...i don't think so occifer |

I'm just wondering, are the referee stations open now? when i got my correctible ticket few months ago, all CA ref stations were closed due to budget cut. i didn't know how to get my ticket signed, but i went to my local police department and they just looked at the tip of my stock exhaust on the car and signed it off, took that to the court and i just paid my $10 fee... |
soo how much are emissions tickets? anyone know?
someone in this thread said his was $1k i really hope its not that much... |
so what exhausts do u guys have that made u guys caught
i had dc sports header megan s pipe megan midpipe trd axleback and it was loud as f**k!!!!!!! not worth it at all.
ehh...then what exhaust companies are legal..only TRD?
honestly, all catbacks and axlebacks meet the requirements to be CARB legal...it's when you delete a cat or both cats and/or add a header that makes it louder and illegal
ah~ i got ya. so probably an axleback will be ok in CA ^^
it will as long as you do not have an aftermarket header, or eliminate the cats
got cha~ thx man. living in CA suks sometimes haha
what exhaust do u have? |
ARK N2...been hassled, but not ticketed since i got this because i got it cleared at the ref station at fullerton college and have the paperwork to show to all who roll me up...91.7 dcb FTW!!
whoa~ nice nice! got some tips of a cheap place to get it? ^-^
its not cheap...and i believe the only place to get it is through them...they're located in ontario too. www.arkspeedracing.com is their website it's around 700 dollars for either of the 2...one is the drift spec type and the other is OEM looking
anyone know the db level of the strup or ateast if it'd pass the test? just curious since i have one and its pretty loud.
is there a cost to get db level checked?
Hey I got a ticket for Emmissions and no front plate. I dont have my front plate yet can i still get the emmissions checked off until i recieve the plates? He also cited me with some code that sais i cant drive my car until it is fixed....
not sure about the one getting fixed but haven't you had your car long enough to get both plates and just get the 808 bracket so you don't have to drill holes on your bumper or you could use zipties LOL
If this will help anyone out who lives in the LA basin if you have an exhaust ticket go to Peirce college they have a state ref there hes really chill and only checks the things that they wrote on the ticked, correctable or not. I got one for my exhaust being to loud but i have the TRD with DC Sport headers that alone makes it really loud. I pulled the header off took it in with my injen cold air still on and passed. There is no need to worry about most of the exhausts out there as long as you dont have a header you'll be fine but also whats the fun in that. Anyway to get to the point I'm going to make is for the test at the college it only costs $20 you have to schedule an appointment with them a day or 2 prior and he also takes pictures and gives you copies of the readings. If or when the cops get you again if they ask about the exhaust show them the papers. Its happened to me a few times and they let you go because you have proof that will hold up in court. They will leave you alone. Hopefully that helps some of you out.
The test and appointment setup should be free. I got mine done at Oxnard college. Nice guys there. As long as your exhaust system is intact, you'll pass visual inspection. They don't even care about the intake. :D
Ya if your exhaust came with a baffle i suggest putting it on before you guys take your cars to the refs cuz it happened to me i barely passed with my baffle on 92 Db with it on... so i mean be careful
so i got an exhaust ticket but unlike everyone else, i dont have an intake or header....i have a turbo. my citation is correctable so anyone know a state ref that wont look under my hood?
yes they will ask you to open your hood to make sure it's all stock and i left my CAI on but the kid who inspected my car was cool and liked the car so i guess i got lucky with my intake :P
forget it....ill just pay the stupid ticket. im not gonna waste my time and anyone else's time who has to help me take everything off and then put it back on! its not worth it
Just got my Tsudo exhaust put on (btw had a rare piping, three pieces?) and it is loud... lol i have been a lil worried with the SoCal po-po's after the jokes my buddies made after hearing the exhaust so... in order to prepare myself for the encounter with a cop, should i go to the ref station and test the exhaust out?
and im just gonna throw it out there, anyone know where i can get a bumper protection so that my exhaust wont burn the bumper? I love my new exhaust btw! |
Yeah, make an appointment and get it tested. Just by the way you described it though, it sounds like it wouldn't pass. :\ They rev the car around 4k and it can get pretty loud.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XEPo0m5L140 <---- link to a vid of the exhuast (not mine but same one) |
will not pass, the midpipe makes it alot louder but what you can do is add a silencer but then your better off just removing the midpipe and not having to worry about getting pulled over.
.
i got busted the other day by a chp, got me for exhaust, tinted tails and tinted windows, he said its all fix its but you have to go to a station and get em stamped and wrote off..... fun fun fun........
