I found this site:
http://www.glass.net/?go1010284gn001

that lets you compare bids, but I havent' had a chance to dig deep enough to find out if it's rigged to give preferential treatment to a particular vendor.

best it gave me was $310

We do carry the glass in stock. We schedule Monday through Friday from 8-1:00 or from 1-6:00 and Saturdays from 9-1:00. If I hear from you before 12:00 I can get you on the schedule for the same day.

Please feel free to email me to schedule an appointment. Just let me know what day & time frame works best for you along with your mailing address to send you the warranty paperwork and the address/phone number where you would like the work done.

This price is good for 30 days.

Toyota & Honda windshields are on special price until the end of June 2006.

Our installers are NGA (National Glass Association) certified and we use only Sika brand urethane, which is top of the line and approved by all manufacturers. The safe drive away time after installation is 30-60 minutes using this glue.

Yeah, that's why FastBreak Auto glass didn't make it.

regarding workmanship, I understand from joeJosh that it is very essential that when cutting out the existing glass, the cut must not be deep enough to potentially scratch the body under the molding, and in the event it does get scratched, it must be primered, or some NASTY rust will develop.

Thanks Josh

I am SO glad i talked to joeJosh first. Sat and watched the whole thing over the guy's shoulder. He absolutely butchered the paint under the molding. He started to go over it with a primer pen, and then put the pen away. I wnet and looked and i was like, let's get this spot here...oh, and this one... and man, if it was ME, it's do this WHOLE side...

Then, since it is totally a 2-man job, I gloved up, and grabbed a suction cup...then the guy couldn't get the molding right - at all. He was clearly bothered by it, and delicately asked me 'what my work schedule looks like this week'. I was like huh? Finally he told me that this one was on the house, and i could take it in to an elite shop to have it done properly.

So... do you have a wind shield or not? What are they going to do about the paint? Is it going to be free when they re-do it? Who killed Bobby Fuller? Sorry got carried away.

No, no, it's cool...

The paint was scratched up underneath where the windshield molding would normally be, and since I was right there, I made sure that all the scratches were primered before the new glass went up. Josh had told me that was the step that could really screw it up, and what caused major problems for him. To the guy's credit, I think it would actually be extremely difficult to get the old glass off without scratching it up under there.

The guy tried to do a good job, and I don't fault him at all. In fact, quite the opposite, I think he's probably a damn good installer, I'm just a little prima donna when it comes to the car.

I think the molding they gave him was a little funky, and it's possible that he used just a little too much adhesive. I thought it was awesome that he could 'man up' and volunteer his opinion that it wasn't quite right. He could have easily tried to pass it off to me.

So, if i had it to do over...I'd call Elite.
