Looking for new used Scion 2007 tC - with many problems
We test drove this sweet looking car the other day...
Problem 1-Check Engine light stayed on the entire time....yes, we did all the gas cap checks, etc....didn't have it long enuf to 'drive for a few days to see if it goes off.'
Problem 2-hard as heck to get it to shift to 3rd gear....
Problem 3- Tried to take it to our mechanic, but the steering wheel and starter were locked solid. Wheel would not budge in either direction.
CarFax report stated there was an earlier electrical problem and the MIL was replaced...it then passed emissions in AZ, and later here.
CarFax report states 'new keys issued' in 2015 @ a Toyota dealer here in CO.
We are both so wary of future major repair problems that we don't want this car, as nice as it looks....
Our 2003 Corolla S was totaled in a rear end collision and we never had those major warning lights EXCEPT once for the 'Check Engine' light and that turned out to be the gas cap, and not the Catalytic Converter like the dealer tried to tell us.
Can anyone tell me if we should drop this one like a hot potato or go further and waste our mechanic's time? of course we are on a very limited budget, both in our late 80's, and can't take on car payments at our ages....
