Default MAN DOWN!!!!

Well needless to say I didnt get to watch the super bowl game last night cause on the way to my wifes grandparents house we had a little accident.......

I was coming around a long corner and a truck towing a trailer was coming from the other direction and he lost a 4 foot drill press off the back of his trailer about 3 feet in front of my car. I had nowhere to go because there were trees on my right and cars on my left and I Hit this thing going about 40. The guy slowed to almost a stop and when he realized that it hit me he fled the scene. luckily the press hit me on the lower portion of the car and didnt bounce up or we probably wouldnt be here to even talk about it. I was able to keep the car on the road and not hit anything else but when we came to a stop the vehicles that were behind this guy couldnt go after him because pieces of my car and the press were everywhere. Basically it demolished the front lip radiator and lower frame rails. it also took out the oil pan and something on the tranny cause there was a mixtue of coolant, oil, and tranny fluid eveywhere.the drivers side front rim is Broken straight though the middle, the Main pole for the press tore the floorboard and was lodged under the car to the point that the right rear wheel was nearly off the ground when i stopped.
After 4 1/2 hours of waiting for the police to get there i finally towed it to my parents house and will be going there today to meet with the adjuster and see whether it is a total loss or what.... but I will post of pictures of the devistation later tonight when i get back..........so needless to say i wont be out for a while and we'll see what happens

First off, it is good that there weren't injuries to you and your wife! You little box did the best it could.
Sad to see ANY box get hurt like that, but especially a nice one like yours.
Too bad the guy who lost the press didn't stop - or get caught yet...
Part of me doesn't want to see the pics, part of me really does.
I hope your insurance covers the entire cost - it sounds like it is probably a 'total' (and if it isn't, probably should be.)
You had bad luck getting that press dumped right in front of you, but you had fantastic luck in coming through the resultant mess intact.
Take care!

GOOD NEWS!!!! Hopefully anyway

well the word right now is that the car is going to be fixed and that we shouldnt really have any trouble because the portions damaged were pretty much only in that area luckily the control arm and the strut took 99% of the damage as far as the suspension is concerned and the core support that was demolished didnt pulll the frame in, it actually just came loose from it and bent so thats very good news.......and the oil pan wasnt penetrated it was the oil filter that was ripped
and they are going to pay for most all of my parts....good news so far

The box seems to be able to take a pretty good lick...there have been several potientaly bad accidents and folks have not been injured.... That speaks volumes...
