They didn't do it for balance. They did it because the engine is tried and true, no R&D to be done, and makes power easily. Not a hard concept to grasp.

yeah once i get into an fr-s, hopefully soon, i would roll the stock motor for a while but once its paid off 2JZ for the win one of the guys in an old car group back home had a supra with the 2JZ and it was one of the most amazing engines i have seem to this day

It's so cool tuners are going back to the 2jz again but as some of us know thats a cast iron block so how much weight does that add to the car? Why not use 2UR from the IS-F? They probably are about the same weight being that the 2UR is aluminum and great torque and horsepower stock. I know someone will come in with the 2UR isn't tunable but let's not forget the 2jz wasn't supposed to be either. Someone need to give those V8s a go.
