Unhappy FR-S Series 10 - Where?

Hi All:

Looking to buy one of the new 10 Series FR-S models if I can. A couple of questions:

1) The dealers I talk to either really don't know this model exists or pretend they never heard of it.
2) Where are these things? Are they sold out? Dribbling into select dealers? Can a guy actually buy one for love or money? How is this magic feat performed? I have money, just need that car to throw it at.
3) If one of these mythical beasts shows up three states away, can I buy it at my local Scion dealer and have it shipped here to Northern California? Shouldn't my local dealer be able to search national inventory?

Feel like I'm getting played here, or don't know the secret handshake or something. Ready to buy a BRZ and say to hell with it.

Thanks in advance!

Yours in Frustration,
Steven

Steven,

I too had the same issue. I went to my local dealer to find out if I could order 10 Series. They said they weren't sure and thought they would be available in the Fall. Which is contrary to what I've read elsewhere. So I sent e-mails to three (bigger) dealers around and two responded saying yes, they can order one for you.

I went with the dealer in Astoria. They said that for that region (WA, OR, ID, Northern CA) there were 23 Series 10 FRS for about 73 dealers. My dealer had an automatic allocated, but he swapped it for a manual from another dealer. It was built last Friday 6/14 and should be here in 4-6 weeks.

Recommendation - pick a few big name dealers around and inquire through their internet manager.

Been watching and wanting an FR-S since they came out. Started searching seriously on June 21 and as of tonite I am the proud owner of #62 of 2500. Manual trans are harder to pin down and locate so I settled on an automatic but it still is all the car i want and then some...Oh got this at Autonation Toyota in Winter Park, FL. Great dealer.
