Oil Useage..

Does anyone know how to slow down the oil consumption on the 1.3 engines in these iQ's? My sons car uses quite a bit of oil between changes. He's running Mobil 1 with a NAPA Gold filter and I change the oil ever 7,500 miles. Between the oil changes, we usually add at least 2 quarts if not 3! What's the deal with the 1.3? I've driven Toyotas for a LOT of miles and never had one that uses oil like this one. I've replaced filters, PCV, and plugs and done a compression test both dry and wet. There are no leaks anywhere, the plugs are a nice tan color like there's supposed to be and there's no smoking from the tail pipe to indicate ring wear or valve problems. Is it just that this is a known oil burner and he has to live with it. The last time I changed the oil (one month ago) I put straight 30 weight in it and have only had to add 1/2 quart of oil in 1,500 miles of driving. Don't freak out about the 30 weight as we live in central Florida and the coldest it's gotten here in the 4 years we've been here is about 42 degrees.
