Default 2nd Scion: 2012 iQ..

I just picked up a 2012 iQ last weekend. 130k. Black Currant. Pretty pleased with it so far. It even fits my goalie gear! A couple threads on this forum helped to inform my purchase.
I got this one to replace my ageing xB with nearly 400k. Not sure what else to say but I’m looking forward to a few light mods and some help from this community.

Thanks for having me.

Welcome, Fozzy! Make sure to browse the forum for more info about your car and feel free to post any specific questions you have about your vehicle in the tech sections.

Welcome to the iQ gang!

I think my funniest iQ story was at the gas station...key word "gas station"...I'm standing there putting in the 6 gallons to fill it up (annoying how the gas gauge starts blinking when you still have 2.5 gallons left!) Anyway, a guy walks over and looks it all over (I removed the ugly Scion badges and replaced them with Toyota) and says to me, "Is this one of them electric cars?" As I have the gas pump IN MY HAND! If I were a sharper guy, I would've given him a zinger and said, "Here's Your Sign" but just said not it was a tiny 1.3 liter engine. Mine is the "hot lava" color and my wife calls it a pumpkin....she's just mean! ;-)

I’ve been driving it all week and have yet to fill it up. The guy who sold it to me filled it up prior. Looking forward to putting very little in. We’re back to about a dollar per litre again so I think my timing is perfect in getting into an Aston Martin...errrr...Toyota. My kids love the “purple” colour but I keep correcting them and saying that it is in fact black currant. Going to try to fit my wheels soon and possibly, very slightly, lower it. Not 100% convinced on that yet as I still need to plough through a foot of Calgary snow every winter.

You're going to drive the iQ in snow? Wow.....I thought it would be okay on light snow here in Colorado but found it's #1) very light so slip and slides way too easy and #2) way too low to the ground. I wonder how it would do with studded tires? (I just keep all-season tires on her.) So my Tundra 4x4 is my work car during the winter.

Oh yeah! No problem. Some aggressive winters and just ride the slide. In Calgary we plough once in a while and wait for the Chinook to save the rest of the snow removal budget. The xB1 I have is only a few hundred pounds heavier and kinda low. It’s never gone unintentionally off-road in the winter yet. The short wheel base on the iQ concerns me as it probably goes round without much warning. But, we’ll see. Hopefully all the hockey gear weighs it down enough.
