Default MPG ?

I would like to know how the MPG are from the people that have an iQ. I am thinking about trading in my tC to get one becasue I want something better on gas but want to know some real world numbers on it.

Thanks

I've averaged 32.6mpg over 2,039 miles. Little short neighborhood trips are a killer for mileage.

I am getting 26.7 in my tC so it's 6 mpg better. I drive 22.5 miles to work and about 10 of them are highway miles. I was hoping that it was closer 35mpg for the iQ but 32 is better then what I am getting now.

I've had a high of 37.2mpg and a low of 18.9mpg from the week it was in an aftermarket shop getting Katzkin leather seats installed. I think they went joy riding with heavy throttle. Without that, the avg. would be higher. My experience suggests that your 20 mile trips will easily get you up to the expected 37mpg.

If your experience is right and it gets me close to 37 then I think it would be a good buy knowing I would save some money at the pump each week.

Hey could ya tell me if there is any room behind the back seat to maybe fit a small 6" bazooka tube? Its not a deal breaker but just curious.

Thanks for the fast replys

I post my mileage on www.fuelly.com and would like to encourage more iQ owners to do so also.

Right now, I'm getting around 36 MPG in mixed driving, after starting out a bit lower during the first fills.

Considering buying an IQ, but wondered how many miles you get out of the smaller tank when it's completely full. I know the MPG is higher than my xB, but we do a lot of longer drives and wondered how many gas stops we'll need between L.A. and Vegas.

The tank is 8.5 gallons. So, about 300 miles per tank at 35 MPG. At it's rated 37 MPG highway it would be 314 miles.

Since the distance between LA and Vegas is about 275, one tank should get you there. I would probably stop about the half-way point to stretch and refuel, but I'm not so gutsy as to get every drop out of the tank.

Any mods I could make to the IQ to get even more MPG? I've looked at the other forums and didn't see anything.

When I watch my driving I am getting around 43 MPG and I mostly drive back country roads. When I drive a little more aggressively I am getting from 35-37 MPG

I am averaging about 36 right now. It is mostly highway miles as my 4Runner is my modded weekend car.

I just dont like how the flashy fuel light comes on with the one bar. I wish the E would flash after that bar is gone when there is about 1 gallon left, not 2.

In theory, just the few bolt ons available should help mileage, new air intake especially, as it seems super restricted now.

As for a bazooka tube, yes there's room for it on one half of the rear, and descent room for an amp under the front seat if need be, (if you don't use powered tube.)

The mileage has gotten better for our IQ after 3k miles, so getting broken in.

Still breaking in the engine so MPG estimate will have to wait..

I have an Ingen Cold Air Intake and it seemed to give about a 5 mpg boost on the instant mpg meter.

My XA gives me 28 to 30 in mostly city when driving normally. 38mpg when hypermiling, but nothing beats my Prius where I have to fight to get anything below 50mpg in any conditions

I've put 14k on my 2012 iQ since I bought it in December. I bought it used with 2,500 miles. I think I might have a lemon :-(
I
was getting 30-36 mpg through spring, then 29-30mpg until last week, suddenly I can't get above 25mpg! I also have tried toggling the ECO MODE off and get 2-3 mpg better OFF.

I got my 15k service and asked them to look for something that might explain my abysmal mpg. They found nothing and didn't really offer any explanation or suggestion
other than to call Toyota. Lemon Law in our state applies only to new car purchases

I'm averaging 60mpg at the moment, 80% town, 20% motorway. Very pleased with this as it's why I bought the car. Interesting to see what others are achieving

I would recommend to install cruise control so you have a constant speed which will improve your mileage. IQ does not come with cruise control as standard.
