Question Are these Volks too wide? 18x7.5 ET+40

Found a very good deal but I am not sure if they will fit.

Volk GT-F (2 piece)
18x7.5 / ET+40
4x100 / 23lbs
225/40 18" Tires
For $400

Now using the calculator online I can see these tires are too wide.
  • Inside: 20 mm (0.8'') closer to suspension/brakes
  • Outside: will stick out 30 mm (1.2'')

If I switch to 205/40 18" tires I get the following:
  • Inside: 10 mm (0.4'') closer to suspension/brakes
  • Outside: will stick out 20 mm (0.8'') farther

Do you think that will work? I have no experience at this and My iQ is in transit so I can't measure yet. Even if they fit do you think 23lbs is too heavy? Thanks for any info!

A roll/slight pull on the fenders will work if they arent the right size. Cut to fit, paint to match!

Huge fan of volks, I am either leaning towards stock rubber and lightweight rim and go from there otherwise 17" rim under 30lbs; I believe and i know someone will correct me that a pound a rim is equal to 10lbs stationary weight; so if I save 4lbs per rim that should be a 120lb difference; brakes are really nice but if you do get them let me know how it is; i would just prefer to not spend too much money

23 pounds seems a little heavy but consider its a 18" rim its very lightweight in that regard to others; i try to stay under 20 lbs but are you going for looks or performance; that is what it comes down to; sorry I rambled

I found another guy that is already running 245/40 18 on lowering springs with no problem. My 225/40 18 will be fine and I don't have to buy new tires! Not sure if he is on this forum but his car is linked below.

I already have ideas on painting to match but I have to wait and see the car first! Should be here next week and I get the Volks on Wed. My last stock wheels only saw 1000miles and this one may be even less!

stretching tires is the way to go with these cars use the stock tires that they come with and stretch them to about 8 inches look at my post its xxr 530 16 x 8 I'm using 8 inch wide tires and man does the car get a mean look to it.
