Five Axis at the NYIAS
Hey Everyone,
As the time nears for the big moment, keep in mind, we have couple surprises as well coming up in a few hours. Keep your eyes posted and also visit our site within the next few weeks for some follow up info as well. Okay, hope you like what you see. As Jack said, the new car is more about performance and the driving experience. We'd love to hear what you think! Okay, off to the show.... |
Looks like the reveal will be at 1PM ET.
Troy, did Five Axis get do build one up? |
I am watching sciondimension.com and the countdown just got to zero... the content area of the page went black and that is it. What a let down.
|
...and now it just shows 0 000 000 in the content area. No more counting. No more movement. scion.com and Toyota's pressroom page also show nothing. Geez.

Have at it people! Vid is playing now on ScionDimension. I'm trying to capture specs. Will update the first post.

180HP
+11 FT LBs (forget previous number) "Free Flowing Exhaust" Flat bottomed steering wheel. |
Substantial seat bolster.
3 Speakers in front door. |
Steering wheel controls.
Moonroof... yadda yadda yadda. Where's the big surprises they left out before? |
Is the video working for anyone? I just get a black screen. Images are loading extremely slowly... like one minute for each one. Sheesh!
|
What do you guys think of the new look?? I don't like the interior at all :(
|
Ya, it's super slow. I went through the whole thing. If you refresh sciondimension, the pics are up.

This is a total let down in my pov and I've seen the whole video on the website.
|
Finally folding mirrors!
|
I'm trying to download the "press kit" with pics and such... but it is SLOOW.
|
The interior does suck. They should of just slapped on the turbo kit and make it 270whp and call it a day.

Looks to me like an evolution, as opposed to a revolution? Up till now every single new Scion introduction has been comletely different than anything that has come before (all new xD, all new and completely different xB, iQ, etc), but this looks to me like some LOOONG overdue updates. More powerful 2.5l 4cyl, 6sp transmission, updating the skin and interior, traction control... All appreciated, but frankly I was looking for more. I mean, they even kept the same stock wheels from 2004! (Yes, 2005 model year, but was introduced in June of '04)
Frankly, unless something unbelievable transpires, I have to say I'm underwhelmed at the very least. Maybe it's just that the 2005 tC was such a game-changer (in the sub-$20k category, anyway), and it's been dragged on for 6 years with barely a refresh (oooh, steering wheel buttons!!) that my biggest complaint is that this should've been done 2-3 years ago (they should've included at the very least a 6sp option from the beginning). At best this brings the tC up to that of its competition (170hp Golf, 173hp for the Forte Koup, etc), and at worst they're going to leave it alone for the next 6 years. Oh well, it's only a matter of time until all the specs are released. :) |
Try clicking the "Press Release" a window should pop up and you can download all the images from there, then just unzip it and post them up on here...

Pics coming!
