You can take the car out of the box, but you can't take the box out of the car...

Actually, I'm surprised it's not just the xA, since they sell so few of them...Then again, the smart fortwo is sold everywhere else in HUGE numbers...

And I bought mine for its practicality. I'm so unhip it hurts to think about it and now this? I don't know what to do. I guess I'll stick with my original plan and just drive it until its wheels fall off . . . .

DANGIT! just when I'm still contemplating getting the new scion, CNN has to throw this in. I got the box b/c I loved the looks, and, I guess cause it was different, something that seperated me from the crowd. (yes it's still bone stock, and average miles) I've never gotten somethign b/c it's "hip" or "cool" but damn this box is pratical and has everything one could want standard (talking about an average driver, not a scion driver ) And so... the conflict keeps goin... on whether to get a new xB^2 or stay with my gen1

I have an 06 xB with about 11k miles on it. This is the most fun car i've ever owned. If they change the body type for next year, i swear to you guys , that' im going to buy 1 or maybe even 2 more xb's - just to keep as spares. I will trade in my h2 if i have to - it's collecting dust anyway!

now i just need a heated garage.

Muhahaha Nice to know my car is gonna be a collector. And no I didn't take the car out the box, its sitting on the dashboard in the box! Why is the 300 on that list?

I think the 1st gen xB will become like a flat screen bug built in germany a real classic. It is much more of a fitting heir than the current beetle anyway.( Marketing BS if you ask me)

Does that make the tc the Karmann Ghia of the future???!!! only time will tell......

but probably not

As with vehicles such as the VW Bus and Mini, the (1st Gen) xB will always have a cult following. Like the Bus and the Mini, the xB is not fast, luxurious, or even rare, but it is fun to drive and has plenty of personality. Way to go Toyota!

Keep in mind that it's a future classic and not an instant classic, such as the Ford GT or Ferrari Enzo. So we have got several decades to go before they accumulate collector value (if CNN is right). Fine by me, I love my Box!

well, I mean, technically any car is a collector's item because someone will probably collect anything that's even remotely non-mass produced (or even if it is/was).

The question is, how big of a collector's item will our cars become?

Plus, they used the word "hip" in the article, and its from CNN... proceed at your own risk

Darn...I'm not surprised...I knew that would be the case...

But now it stops me in my tracks of modding my RS3! I'm thinking maybe I should just garage it and get a non-RS xB.

Is it still a collector item if you mod the hell out of it?
