Default Bumper meets curb(New poll on page 2 in bold, need opinions)

Scraped my bumper on the curb while trying to parallel park. First time this happened. Pics are taken squatting down, you dont really see it while looking down at it standing up that much.

How much do you think this will cost to fix? Should I try DIY with sanding and touch up paint? Should I add a front lip kit only like OEM or RS1? I like the OEM one better after looking at tons of pics on here. Will that cover it? I think so right? How do you think cars look with just front lip only? OEM lip is like $200 shipped right?, then how much to take to bodyshop and sand, paint, install?

Just trying to figure out my different options. If I am going to spend just as much to fix it as I would just putting a lip kit over it, I might as well come out with a mod done.

Thanks for your help and advice. I know there are lots of questions to answer but bear with me.

You can get a OEM body kit from TRD sparks already painted. Then you just have to install it.

I thought they only have the whole kit available painted? I only was the front lip and I think the only option for that is to have it primed. Want to make sure a lip will def cover it. Also weigh in on the other options. Thanks for your response. Keep them coming guys and gals, but try to answer as much as you can. Thanks again in advance for your help all.

rs1 should be bout $100 or less on e-bay bout the same to paint so your looking at $200.

if you can get the oem for the same price i say get it.

either lip should cover that scrape.

Same thing happened to me. I went to the Wal*Mart arts and crafts section and picked up a black paint stick. Sounds ghetto but nobody has EVER noticed.

lol, I have also used Sharpies! I took my front bumper off and got all of the scrapes underneath with a combination of Sharpies and paint stick. Why pay $200 when it can be fixed for $4.97!

Get some turtle wax rubbing compound (the tub with the red clay stuff not the bottle) then get some polish. First really rub down the area with rubbing compound on a rag (doesnt have to be a smooth rag, any rag will do even a shop rag) Then take the polish and apply a hazy coat let sit for a min, then take a polish cloth and wipe it away. Repeat the polish a few times. Most of that should be gone.

Thanks for your help. These scratches are really deep. I can feel the scrapes with my fingers, from the curb. Will this still work? How will they disappear if i dont add any new paint? Will it cause any paint around the area to get messed up? Can you supply a link to which product you are referring to? Thanks again.

I agree I tried Scratch X and it was a joke with this. No chance it was working.

Thank you all for your replies so far, please keep them coming, whether it be about cheap ways to fix, or body shop work, or lip kit choices, coverage of damaged area and price estimates. I know it is not a big deal of damage to some, but this is my first new ride and I am making payments on it, so I want to keep it in the best shape I can.

If those white marks are paint from the curb, I would use turtle wax bug and tar remover. It'll remove the white (if it's the cement/paint crap from the curb) and won't mess up your paint. Then I'd sand down anything that is raised up (plastic pieces, etc) get some touch up paint and cover it up. It will be cheap and most likely nobody will notice.

It seems this isnt paint from the curb because I tried rubbing compound and scratch x, it is the actual bumper that is damaged, you can feel the grooves from the scratches. Some of the white was even flaking off a little. The surface is not smooth at all.
