DIY: installing aerocatch hood pins

Im starting this thread now so i dont have to spend 3 hours on install day. if you are intrestested on how to do this just keep an eye on it. https://img375.imageshack.us/img375/8758/pinsyr3.jpg

When you get your kit this it what you pay for. For future reference this is the 120 plus flush kit. If you are so inclined you can get the 125 flush kit, which can be made to mount completly flush into a body panel, but requires a hell of a lot of work compared to this.

What kind of hood will you be installing these on?

Dakine 03-12-2007 05:22 PM

i think he got a seibon. watching as well

VoLktc 03-12-2007 05:31 PM

nah seibon is to pricy for my tastes. its an ABS dynamic hood, oem style more for safety then anything else.

MJVsTC 03-12-2007 10:50 PM

I wouldn't put pins on my ride, but I'm watching just for kicks!

VoLktc 03-13-2007 01:41 AM

i personally dont like the looks of pins, but i damn sure dont like my hood bouncing off my glass doing 85

Scott8 03-13-2007 02:08 AM

how likely is it too release? I know the CF hoods will shake a little, but I thought the hood latch is still holding it???

VoLktc 03-13-2007 02:58 AM

look around you can find horror stories. the latch might be fine, but remember that it is drilled into F I B E R G L A S S.

Scott8 03-13-2007 03:03 AM

sort of a "Just in Case" modifaction.
They cost you $120 for the set?

VoLktc 03-13-2007 03:49 PM

yea 120 shipped from coastfab.com topsecret wanted 180 before shipping, looked to me like they were trying to market them as their design

VoLktc 03-13-2007 03:51 PM

i know they are pricey but i hear sparco's rust, the nrg cf ones are a pain to install, and i didnt like the rest of the other ones so really only one choice for me. btw these are totally paintable. go to aerocatch's site, the plastic this is made out of is some high tech stuff lol

VoLktc 03-14-2007 06:22 PM

hood should be here by friday i hope to have the install done by the weekened.

VoLktc 03-16-2007 12:11 AM

I was looking at these same hood pins for my hood. I hate normal hood pins. But these are somewhat hidden. Please post pics once your done. I think I may order me a set.

VoLktc 03-17-2007 09:08 PM

bad news. the curvature above the radiatator core support is to great to mount these FLUSH. you can still mount em but would either have to use silicon or some other method. sadly to say in the new light i have to cancel the install and the diy,But since im not gonna install these if anybody wants to use em on another vehicle ill let em go for 80 shipped. figures.
