Default tc roof rack

I was all jazzed up after seeing all the new pics that been posted. Ready to go down to the dealer and put down a deposit, thinking I can't wait to throw the bike on top and start doing some road trippin'. Then I remembered, glass roof, and my heart sank Does anyone know, will there be a roof rack available to accomodate bikes, snowboards, and the other necessities of life for the target demographic?

i think it would be nearly imposible for them to have a roof rack, but to carry your bikes and such, thats why the made the tc to have the ability to fold all seats besides drivers, if thats not enough there are those bike racks that you hook onto you trunk which work pretty good

looks like you're gonna have to buy one of those Quasimoto racks for your trunk...

Ummm, if the tC has something to grip on the outside edge of the roof then roof racks might work. Ya know, on the metal part, not the glass. *shrug*

No, not the quasimoto rack. They're a real pain on a hatch anyways, if no roof rack I'd have to go with a 1 1/4" hitch and that style rack. Just folding down the seats would be good enough for going to local spots, but I need room for my gear and such for longer trips (a week in Durango, CO, say).

The hatch opens up too close to the roof... I doubt having a bike rack would help you since you can't open your hatch if you have a bike there...

Gotta do the trunk over hang...

when i was purchasing a roof rack a few years back they told me that cars with a glass roof can't have a roof rack. i had a 87 mr2 with the glass t-tops. the reason is that when clamping down the brackets it can crack the glass from the stress. the c230 has an all glass roof and yakima only offers a trunk rack for that car.

You bring up a good point. Appears people will by SOL if buying the tC and expecting to install a top rack. Will be much easier for women who can have surgery to install a top rack.

If scion wants to appeal to the youth market, maybe they should develop a dealer-available roof rack that doesn't touch the roof glass or interfere with the rear hatch. If Porsche can build one for the Boxster, Toyota can build one for the tC.

...Either that or offer a steel roofed tC (the better option IMHO)

I think Scion wants you to put your stuff "inside" the car LOL... Thats why they made it a hatch and fold down seats...

I dunno, I've never been a roof rack user since I have nothing to put there... Maybe a matress in teh future? HAHA

Anywho, if you're plannling to get skis, just put it insde... If you're planning to get bikes, like someone said just get the trunk overhangs...

You hit a lot more things with roof racks anyways... You end up forgetting your bike is there and just either ruin your bike or ruin your tC...

Default Yakima does it

Hey, for those that might be interested, I checked the Yakima site, and they show a roof rack for the tc. Kewl.
